Sony sees 50% higher Xperia 1 VI pre-orders in Taiwan vs predecessor

Sony is having a huge success with the release of its new Xperia 1 VI model in Taiwan. According to the company, the model experienced 50% higher pre-orders in the said market compared to its predecessor, the Xperia 1 V.

Sony Taiwan General Manager Tomotaka Tsutsusushio shared the news, saying that the new smartphone outperformed its 2023 flagship sibling by 50%. The success could also be associated with the company’s debut promotions, which gave fans some freebies/perks and free upgrades. Nonetheless, it can’t be denied that the model itself is an attraction.

The Xperia 1 VI still has some traces of the Xperia 1 V in it, but there are also some great improvements in the new model. To start, it now boasts 6.5″ 120Hz FullHD+ LTPO OLED (19.5:9 1080×2340 pixels resolution) instead of the expected 4K OLED screen. Also, it is now powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, ensuring it has sufficient power to cater to heavy tasks like games.

Unfortunately, the model will not be offered in the US, but it should soon be available in stores in other global markets, such as Europe.
