Asus could rebadge ROG Phone 8 as ROG Phone 9 FE, model number shows

It seems Asus is planning to rename another model. This time, it will be the ROG Phone 8, which could soon be called the ROG Phone 9 FE.

This is not new to the company, as we saw it in its earlier releases. Now, the brand might do this again with the ROG Phone 9 FE.

The model recently received certifications in Malaysia and Thailand. It will be the newest addition to the ROG Phone 9 series, which already offers the vanilla ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro.

While the certifications lack the phone’s specs, they include its AI2401N model number. To recall, the Asus ROG Phone 8 has the AI2401 model number. These huge similarities in the internal identifications of the two devices suggest that Asus is planning to make another rebadged model.

While it is too early to take this seriously, the brand’s past actions hint at the said possibility. If that is really the case, we can expect the ROG Phone 9 FE to offer the same set of specs the ROG Phone 8 has, such as:

  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
  • LPDDR5X RAM
  • UFS4.0 storage
  • 6.78″ FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED with 2500nits peak brightness and in-display fingerprint sensor
  • (global model cam configruation) 50MP main camera with OIS + 32MP telephoto with OIS and 3x optical zoom + 13MP ultrawide
  • 32MP selfie camera
  • 5500mAh battery
  • 65W wired, 15W wireless, and 10W reverse wired charging
