MIUI to AOSP conversion is often sekt out as MIUI is often missed when switched to AOSP but difficult to use without the flexibility of AOSP. In this content, we will help you turn MIUI to AOSP step by step together.

MIUI to AOSP Material You Conversion

As much as you install Material You themes and want to be done with the AOSP look, it never seems real and satisfying enough. MIUI system needs more than just a theme to look like AOSP and we’re here to help you get the MIUI to AOSP conversion you’re looking for.

Lawnchair as the AOSP launcher

As most of you may know, Lawnchair is one of the closest launchers to AOSP look out there with most amount of customizations and a lot of features. It has recently been updated to 12 version to be compatible this new Android version. It supports Android 12 recents menu, launcher search, Material You or custom icons and many other Android 12 specific traits. One of the most important steps towards the MIUI to AOSP conversion goes through the launcher. You can acquire this launcher via their Github repository.

MIUI to AOSP MIUI to AOSP

After downloading Lawnchair, go into Play Store and also install Nova launcher. MIUI does not allow choosing third party launchers as default home and this restriction can by bypassed through Nova launcher’s settings. Go into Nova launcher, save whatever settings appear in front of you until you reach home screen, open Nova Settings and at the top, you will see a warning saying Not set as default. Click on it and select Lawnchair on the selection menu. You can uninstall Nova launcher after that.

QuickSwitch Module for the Gestures

Simply installing the launcher will not be enough as MIUI has strict restrictions for third party launchers, disabling fullscreen navigation gestures. Even using QuickSwitch module alone is not quite enough, which is why we will break this into 2 steps. First, download the QuickSwitch.apk from their official repositories and install it. Launch the QuickSwitch app, tap on Lawnchair and OK. After applying the changes, your system will reboot itself.

MIUI to AOSP

You now have Lawnchair set as default and working with AOSP recents. However, MIUI will still not allow you to enable navigation gestures. To get past that, you need to install Termux from Play Store and type in:

su
settings put global force_fsg_nav_bar 1

After this, your navigation gestures should be enabled. Unfortunately, back gestures do not work on this method. You need to install Fluid Navigation Gestures or some similar app that will let you use back gestures only.

Material You Icons

Lawnchair has a built-in icon support for Material You theming. You need to get and install the extension from their repositories in order to be able to enable it. After the installation, go into Lawnchair settings > General and enable Themed Icons option.

MIUI to AOSP MIUI to AOSP

If this is not the MIUI to AOSP look you are going for, there are still many Material You icon packs in Play Store to explore that will give you much closer experience to the original. Here is one example with Dynamic light A12 icon pack icon pack:

Dynamic light A12 icon pack (₺14,99, Google Play) →

MIUI to AOSP

Widgets

Lawnchair comes with an Android 12 style widget picker and lets you use any widget that you have in your system. Since MIUI comes with its own apps rather than stock AOSP apps, you do not have Android 12 widgets in the system however Google apps are available in Play Store and simply installing those apps, you can get access to those widgets.

MIUI to AOSP MIUI to AOSP

Theme

MIUI Theme Store is one of the best and most popular Android app stores in the world. It offers a wide range of themes for personalizing your device’s interface, as well as other apps that can help you change your device’s looks and functionality. When it comes to MIUI to AOSP conversion, there are a lot of Material You themes out there that you can use, however, you will love the one of our picking, especially if you want to have a really similar control center to the one Android 12 has.

Project WHITE 13 theme is developed by AMJAD ALI, only 10.41 mb and compatible with MIUI 13, 12.5 and 12. You can install the theme from official store or download and import the theme file from here.

MIUI to AOSP MIUI to AOSP MIUI to AOSP

Verdict

MIUI to AOSP conversion is quite easy when you know the steps. The only possible struggle here is the navigation gestures as MIUI does not allow third-party launchers. However, using this guide, you can also bypass that issue with the only exception of back gesture not working. After following all the steps in this article, you should be good to go on MIUI to AOSP conversion.

What Is The MIUI Daemon App on Xiaomi Devices? https://xiaomiui.net/what-is-the-miui-daemon-app-on-xiaomi-devices-1085/ Sun, 21 Aug 2022 03:16:48 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=1085 There are certain apps in MIUI system such as MIUI Daemon of which users usually wonder and ask about the functions or usefulness. Otherwise, sometimes they worry about data security. We studied the issue and the detailed results are here.

What is MIUI Daemon app?

MIUI Daemon (com.miui.daemon) is a system app which is installed on Xiaomi Devices on Global MIUI ROMs. It is pretty much a tracker that keeps track of certain stats in your system in order to improve the user experience in the later updates. To check if you have this app:

  • Open Settings
  • Apps
  • Menu
  • Show system apps
  • Search MIUIDaemon in the app list to check

Does Xiaomi Spy On Its Users?

Some experts are certain that Xiaomi completes its devices with spying software. Is it true or not, it is difficult to say. The supporters of this point of view usually appeal to the fact that graphic interface MIUI uses suspicious apps. From time to time, such apps send data to servers located in China.

MIUI Daemon MIUI Daemon MIUI Daemon

One of these apps is MIUI Daemon. After analyzing the app, it is clear that it can collect and send the information such as:

  • Screen turn-on time
  • Built in storage memory amount
  • Loading main memory statistics
  • Battery and CPU statistics
  • Status of Bluetooth & Wi-Fi
  • IMEI Number

Does MIUI Daemon carry spying apps?

We don’t think so. It is just a service to collect statistics. Yes, it sends information to developer’ servers. On the other hand it does not use private data. It appears to be that using this app Xiaomi company analyzes its users activity to release new firmware according to the users needs. Sometimes the app “eats” a lot of device recourses like batteries. This is not nice.

Is it safe to remove MIUI Daemon?

It’s possible to remove the APK, but there’s still the /system/xbin/mqsasd which cannot be removed safely (you won’t be able to boot). The mqsas service is integrated in framework.jar and boot.img as well. So it is better to force stop or revoke its authorization. There is clearly a lot to find in this app. It’s cleary worth a deep analysis. If you have reverse skills, download the firmware, reverse this app and share with the world your results!

Verdict

It is safe to assume that MIUI Daemon app does not collect private data, but mostly gathers certain stats in order to improve the user quality, therefore it is safe. However, If you decide to remove this APK from your system, you can do it easily using Xiaomi ADB Tool method in our How to Remove Bloatware on Xiaomi | All Debloat Methods content.

How to recover any Xiaomi device from Fastboot https://xiaomiui.net/how-to-recover-any-xiaomi-device-from-fastboot-2005/ Thu, 28 Jul 2022 10:14:08 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=2005 If your device’s stuck in fastboot screen or if you want to know how to recover any Xiaomi device from fastboot screen, this is the article for you. There are many reason behind this but most common one is corrupted software.

Why are Xiaomi devices stuck at fastboot?

When an Android device is booted up, the system bootloader, which is either in the ROM or on the motherboard, looks for a boot image to boot the device from. When the device is initially manufactured, the bootloader is signed with the device’s manufacturer’s key. The bootloader places the system image it finds in the boot partition (a hidden partition on the device) and starts the device booting from the system image. If the system partition or any other partition has been tampered with, the bootloader will try to load the related partitions using the boot partition but fail and this will cause the device to enter fastboot and be stuck there.

Recover any Xiaomi device without reflashing

For some reason your device might boot into fastboot interface with working software or you accidentally powered on your phone while you were also holding volume down button. If this is the case, just press and hold power button for 10 seconds and your device should boot as if nothing ever happened. However, if there is an inconsistency with the way your partitions are filled or set due to a wrong or bugged software flashed on the device, you will have to reflash the stock software.

Recover any Xiaomi device using Mi Recovery

Sometimes, being stuck at fastboot stems from userdata inconsistency with the ROM installed on your device, meaning you will have to start fresh in order for system to boot. In such cases, you can try your luck with wiping user data. This process will wipe your data so be aware.

Recover any Xiaomi

In order to wipe data in recovery:

  • Press and hold volume up and power buttons at the same time.
  • Let go of power button when you see the Mi Logo but keep pressing volume up.
  • You should see Xiaomi’s Mi Recovery Interface.
  • Press volume down button to select Wipe Data option and press the power button enter.
  • Wipe All Data should be selected by default, press the power button again.
  • Use volume down to select Confirm and press the power button once again to wipe data.

Recover any Xiaomi device using MiFlash

If previous solutions weren’t helpful, unfortunately you have to flash your device MiFlash tool. It’s pretty straightforward process, so you can do this yourself or with someone you know who is good with computers. A computer and a USB are all you need. It is usually safe but please follow guide below carefully. Doing something wrong can and will brick your device beyond repair.

Recover any Xiaomi device using MiFlash

In order to flash stock software via Mi Flash:

  • Find and download correct Fastboot ROM for your device from MIUI Downloader app. If you don’t know about this app or how to use it, check out How to download latest MIUI for your device content.
  • Download MiFlash tool from here.
  • Extract both of them using WinRAR or 7z.
  • Run XiaoMiFlash.exe
  • Click “Select” button on top left corner.
  • Navigate to folder where you extracted Fastboot ROM that you downloaded in first step.
  • Select folder and make sure it contains images folder and .bat file
  • Connect your device to computer.
  • Click “Refresh” button
  • MiFlash tool should recognize your device.
  • There are options on bottom right of MiFlash window, I recommend selecting “clean all” but you can select “save user data” if you have important files on your device’s storage that you want to save them. Don’t select clean all and lock!
  • Click “Flash” and wait patiently, tool should reboot your phone automatically. Don’t disconnect your device during this process, doing so may brick your device.
  • Your device should boot back to MIUI. If you had selected “clean all”, complete the Setup Wizard steps.

If MiFlash doesn’t recognize your device, check Driver tab and install all the drivers in that section.

Verdict

Recovering Xiaomi devices that are stuck at fastboot screen more often than not requires flashing stock firmware and mostly caused by flashing a faulty ROM. However, using the methods in this article will certainly fix this issue.

How to convert Xiaomi phone to Pixel https://xiaomiui.net/how-to-convert-xiaomi-phone-to-pixel-3742/ Tue, 19 Jul 2022 12:55:09 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=3742 Is Xiaomi interface too complex? Is it so boring and slow? You don’t like the animations? Here is the guide to convert Xiaomi to Pixel if yes to all those and you want a more refreshed look.

Downloads

Lawnchair module
Theme Patch (also works with MIUI 12.5)
Pixel Theme MTZ
QuickSwitch
CorePatch
XDowngrader

Converting Xiaomi to Pixel made easy!

AOSP (Android Open Source Project, The Interface Google Pixel device has) has a simplistic user interface that’s light, smooth, and snappy. When it’s compared to MIUI, AOSP (Pixel UI) feels much smoother. There’s a way to get this smoothness and look in MIUI. However, converting Xiaomi to Pixel requires Magisk and LSPosed. And it only works with MIUI 12.5+ based on Android 11+. If you meet the requirements, you can go ahead and follow the steps below. Ensure you took a backup before doing it. It might cause issues in system, or system might not even boot at all.

Change the launcher

The first step towards converting Xiaomi to Pixel is the launcher. It’s possible to replace MIUI launcher with the AOSP one but in this case, we have to go with Lawnchair.

Xiaomi to Pixel Xiaomi to Pixel

In order to install Lawnchair:

  • Download the required module from downloads section.
  • Open Magisk.
  • Go to modules.
  • Tap Install from storage.
  • Flash the launcher module that’s given in Downloads section.
  • Reboot.

This should prepare the base for Lawnchair to work but will NOT make Lawnchair usable just yet.

Disable signature verification on APK files

If you do not have LSPosed installed on your device, you can refer to our How to disable signature verification on Android content to install LSPosed on your device. If you wish so, you can also disable signature verification on APK files in that content as well.

Xiaomi to Pixel Xiaomi to Pixel

In order to disable signature verification:

  • Download Corepatch & XDowngrader apk from downloads section of the post.
  • Enter LSPosed.
  • Enter Modules.
  • Activate both Corepatch and XDowngrader.
  • Reboot.

Set up Lawnchair with QuickSwitch

Download and install QuickSwitch APK file given in downloads section. Open the app and grant root access to it. Tap Lawnchair on the list and and confirm any prompt that appears on your screen. Once your device reboots, go into settings and set default launcher as Lawnchair. Unfortunately back gestures will break. Use FNG(Fluid Navigation Gestures) for the back gesture. This is currently the only workaround.

Install Pixel MIUI theme

Last step to converting Xiaomi to Pixel is the theme to change the overall look of your system. Flash theme patcher module given in downloads section in Magisk first.

Convert Xiaomi to Pixel Xiaomi to Pixel

Once the module is installed:

  • Enter themes app.
  • Go to My Account.
  • Go to Themes.
  • Tap Import.
  • Import the MTZ file given in the downloads section of the post.

How to revert?

Oh don’t worry, reverting process is easy too!

  • Uninstall Lawnchair module.
  • Uninstall updates of system launcher.
  • Set theme back to default.
  • Disable corepatch & XDowngrader in LSPosed.

And that’s it! Whole process is reverted.

How many GB RAM on Phone is required for today? https://xiaomiui.net/how-many-gb-ram-on-phone-is-required-for-today-10363/ Tue, 19 Jul 2022 09:58:38 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=10363 People always wonder what are the minimum amount of RAM on phones for today’s standards, as today’s apps and devices always gets better and better, so does the older phones get outdated and slow enough that it can’t handle at all anymore.. This article tells you all of it!

What is the required RAM on phones today?

RAM (Random-Access Memory) is used on smartphones in order to keep track of active applications and open windows. It’s also used to store temporary data, such as icons, webpages, and active screen previews. RAM is important because it allows apps to run faster, and helps you use the phone more efficiently. However the question is, how much RAM do you actually require on your smartphone? Let us go into what RAM amount you may need one by one and figure out the best fit.

2 GB RAM Capabilities

2 GB of RAM is pretty low for today’s standards. It depends on what exactly you’re buying the device for. 2 GB RAM is only for normal social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram and more. Though, it’s still too low that it won’t be able to multitask at all properly without lagging or killing the apps. Although that being said, if you do install custom ROMs on it, and use SWAP(storage as memory to be short), it might do the job. but for gaming, the required RAM on phones is much higher than this, keep that in mind. You can find this amount of RAM in low-end devices.

required RAM on phones

3 GB RAM Capabilities

Though it’s still low, it’s better than 2 GB RAM which is a good thing. You can find midrange devices today that uses 3 gigs of RAM in themselves. It can handle multitasking apps if you’re not loading the device too much (e.g games) and only using social media apps (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). For gaming, it’s still a bit low amount. Yes, it’s able to run games but probably at lowest settings possible but it is not quite the required RAM on phones for a decent gaming experience. SWAP won’t have much effect in this one, as Android system will try to use RAM more in 3+ GB RAM devices. You can find this amount of RAM in midrange devices.

required RAM on phones

4 GB RAM Capabilities

Well, now we should be getting something right? Yep, if you’re thinking that, you’re right. 4 GB RAM pretty much fills today’s standards if you consider it the minimum required RAM on phones. It’s able to multitask properly without issues at all, and so doesn’t need SWAP as well. In gaming, it’s able to run in medium or high settings depending in the processor itself. Just like above, you can find this amount of RAM in flagship and maybe a few midrange devices.

required RAM on phones

6 GB RAM Capabilities

Now this is pretty much today’s level standards in RAM side of a mobile phone. It is able to multitask much apps at once without killing them or requiring SWAP at all, and so runs pretty much in high settings on games. For gaming, it again depends on also the processor, so look for also a good processor in it. You can find this amount of RAM on phones considered to be midrange devices and flagship devices easily, as most of them comes with 6 gigs of RAM at least.

required RAM on phones

8 GB RAM Capabilities

With 8GB RAM on phones, you can pretty much do anything if processor itself is also good enough. It is able to multitask at least 10 apps depends on how optimized is the software. It will run games properly without any issues. For gaming, it will probably run at high settings without issues as on a phone with 8 gigs of RAM, processor should be good as well. You can find this amount of RAM on phones that are usually the flagship devices.

required RAM on phones

12(or higher) GB RAM Capabilities

If your device is 12 GB RAM or anything higher, it’s probably a phone that’s specifically only designed for gaming. Usually only these types of phones do come with 12 gigs of RAM. It’s able to pretty much do anything, keep 15+ apps open, run games in maximum settings and more. You can find this amount of RAM phones considered to be the flagship killer devices.

required RAM on phones

Verdict

Overall, the required RAM on phones depend on what you are planning to use your device for and you need to decide on the amount based on your needs. If you feel that your current device is not meeting your expectations in terms of RAM capacity, check out our How to use Xiaomi virtual RAM to speed up your device content to support your RAM with a virtual one in order to avoid having to buy a new device.

How to choose a good camera phone when buying a phone? https://xiaomiui.net/how-to-choose-a-good-camera-phone-when-buying-a-phone-16237/ Mon, 18 Jul 2022 12:52:11 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=16237 People are becoming increasingly curious about what would be a good camera phone that could capture better photographs as smartphone camera capabilities improve. If you share these emotions and decide to purchase a camera phone, you may be wondering how to select one without being disappointed. But how can you know whether you’ll get a phone with a good camera or a phone with a bad camera? With our advice to buying a phone with a decent camera, we’ve got you covered.

Top things to consider while buying a good camera phone

Smartphones have undeniably become one of the brightest lights in the evolution of technology. In order to generally take a good photo or record quality videos, the majority of consumers seek the finest smartphone camera. There are, however, a slew of cell phones on the market with mobile photography capabilities. This causes uncertainty and makes selecting the finest smartphone even more difficult.

If you really adore photography and want to express your talent and originality via the images you take regardless if it’s about nature, scenery, people, or anything else, we welcome you to the world of smartphone cameras! You can learn all the details regarding choosing a good camera phone reading up the rest of the article.

Sensor

The sensor is the heart of the camera, just as the processor is the heart of the smartphone. You’ll obtain the stunning image you want if the sensor does a fantastic job of capturing an image. A good camera phone with a  big sensor captures more light and delivers better photographs. With better sensors, low-light performance, color vibrancy, and image sharpness all improve. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra features a massive 1 inch sensor, which is currently the largest mobile phone camera sensor available.

good camera phone

Sensors that are larger capture more light than those that are smaller. As a result, even a 13MP camera with a smaller sensor can be outperformed by an 8MP camera with a larger sensor. This is the most important thing while choosing a good camera phone.

Pixel size

The light that enters the camera is captured by pixels. More light can penetrate a sensor with more pixels, which reduces digital noise. Images will have proper exposure even in low-light situations. The largest pixel size on smartphone camera sensors is 2.4µm present on the Huawei P40 Pro. Some of the good camera phones with the biggest pixel sizes are the Galaxy S20, and Google Pixel 6.

good camera phone

Megapixels

The amount of pixels in your camera is measured in megapixels. It determines an image’s resolution, or how detailed the image is. Higher megapixels are required for improved definition when printing and displaying your images. Putting too many megapixels into a sensor, on the other hand, will reduce the pixel size. Pixel-binning technology, which combines data from numerous pixels into one, is generally used by a good camera phone to compensate.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 108MP 1/1.33 sensor that uses pixel merging to turn nine 0.8micron pixels into one 2.4micron pixel, resulting in brilliant, detailed images. Xiaomi Redmi K40 Pro+ also has a primary camera of 108 MP.

Lens & Shooting Modes

Last year, the triple-camera smartphone was all the rage, but now days, even mid-range phones have quad-camera setups. Aside from the primary camera, the latest camera phone boasts an ultra-wide-angle lens that provides a wider field of view, making it ideal for capturing landscapes. In smartphones, the telephoto lens compensates for the lack of optical zoom. Depth sensors help you to focus on the subject and are ideal for portrait photography. A macro lens is available on several cameras, which aids in the capture of sharp and detailed photos of small things up close.

Multiple shooting modes are included into the latest Android phones. ISO adjustment, white balance, and exposure compensation are some of the common functions that help to improve picture quality by adjusting lighting conditions.

Aperture

One of the important aspects to consider while looking for a good camera phone is the aperture, which refers to the opening in the camera lens that regulates the quantity of light passing through it. The aperture stop size is indicated by the number. The smaller the f value, the larger the aperture, and the shallower the depth of field. For instance, f/8 is less than f/1.4. A camera with an f/1.7 aperture has a wider lens opening, allowing more light to pass through than one with an f/2.2 aperture. So, if you’re a big fan of bokeh in your photos, play around with the aperture size.

good camera phone

Zoom

In a smartphone camera, there are two forms of zoom: digital and optical. When taking images from a distance, the zoom option comes in handy. Digital zoom is a software procedure that crops and enlarges a portion of an image, occasionally resulting in pixelated results. The actual optic lens (hardware) of the camera zooming in to gain a closer look at the subject is referred to as optical zoom. As a result, an optical lens produces a better-zoomed image. When it comes to choosing a good camera phone, optical lenses are preferred above digital lenses.

good camera phone

Final Words

Almost every mobile store has smartphones for photos on display, which attract the attention of many people due to their sizes, shapes, and attractiveness. If you do not choose your camera phone carefully, you may come to regret it. If you enjoy photography and selfies or shooting, choose the one that best suits your needs. Your decision is always based on how well you understand your smartphone. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money on a good camera phone. Furthermore, not all costly smartphones have the greatest cameras.

The device was initially under the Redmi brand with the name of Redmi Note 10S, but not so long after, POCO seems to have come up with their own variant under the model name of 2207117BPG. Moving on, the device also seems to be going to come with some differences, such as the default MIUI version.

Aside from that, There also seems to be some differences on RAM options on the Redmi Note 10S rebrand. On Redmi variant, the options are 8GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB, 6GB+64GB while on the POCO variant, they are 4GB+64GB, 4+128GB, 6+128GB. It is a shame that POCO variant will no longer feature the 8GB RAM option. But it seems like POCO variant, as an addition to the Redmi variant, is going to be adding in a new color option; blue. It seems like these are the only differences, and the rest of the specs are the same in both devices. You can check them out at Redmi Note 10S specs.
