Xiaomi 14 series comes with ultra storage expansion! https://xiaomiui.net/xiaomi-14-series-comes-with-ultra-storage-expansion-52248/ Mon, 30 Oct 2023 09:11:13 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=52248 Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 14 series and announced a new feature called storage expansion during the launch event. The first details about the storage expansion feature have been revealed today by Xiaomi officials. You purchase a phone, and you might have noticed that the entire storage isn’t fully available for you, as system files naturally take space. Xiaomi has allocated an additional 8 GB of space to users to provide the maximum storage available, and the development of this feature is made with FBO technology.

Xiaomi 14 Pro titanium

Xiaomi 14 series will let you to have extra 8 GB storage space if you have a 256 GB phone, and if you have a device with 512 GB of storage, you’ll get an extra 16 GB storage. If you’re curious why Xiaomi has done this this, it’s worth noting that MIUI has gained a reputation among users for being excessively bloated.

Storage expansion

Xiaomi’s aims develop a completely new, lightweight user interface while maximizing storage capacity for users. In the past, Xiaomi had allowed users to uninstall certain system applications. According to Xiaomi’s official statements, the new refinements on HyperOS (MIUI) are expected to provide users with approximately 30 GB extra storage compared to other OEMs. By shrinking the space occupied by HyperOS (MIUI), allowing users to uninstall some system apps and the brand new storage expansion, Xiaomi phones will have more available storage compared to other phone manufacturers.

The older Xiaomi phones will not get the storage expansion feature and we might see this feature on the smartphones made by other manufacturers in the future.

The camera setup of Xiaomi 13T ranks 60 among the global ranking. This actually shows that the phone’s camera setup is actually not very ambitious, let’s take a look at the detailed camera test published by DxOMark that reveals both the good and bad sides of Xiaomi 13T’s camera.

Xiaomi 13T Pixel 7a

In this image shared by DxOMark, Pixel 7a and Xiaomi 13T show quite different results in this image taken under a very challenging light conditions. Although Xiaomi 13T image appears to have better dynamic range as the sky is visible, the phone struggles to capture the models’ faces accurately. Both the models’ faces have significant issues in the contrast in Xiaomi 13T’s image.

Xiaomi 13T, Xiaomi 12T Pro and Pixel 7a

Another image shared by DxOMark shows how the ultrawide angle camera of Xiaomi 13T, Pixel 7a, and Xiaomi 12T Pro work. All three phones produce different results but none of them are perfect. The specs of the display are quite impressive, with many flagship devices still falling below 2600 nits of brightness. This year’s Xiaomi 13T series comes with fancy camera features too. If you want to learn more about Xiaomi 13T series, you can check out our previous article here: Xiaomi 13T series launched globally, specs and pricing here!

Xiaomi 13T display

According to Tianma’s official Weibo page, the display of Xiaomi 13T series is manufactured by Tianma. Xiaomi 12T series was introduced last year and things were a little different with both Tianma and TCL made display panels were used.

Tianma appears to have performed impressively with Xiaomi 13T series this year, as the displays offer both a notably high brightness of 2600 nits and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Moreover, the display boasts a PWM rating of 2880 Hz and is equipped with a touch sampling rate of 480 Hz.

We can say that the only bad thing about the Xiaomi 13T series displays is the resolution, because it is not 2K resolution but 1.5K resolution (2712×1220). We don’t know if Tianma will bring a better display next year, but the AMOLED displays in the Xiaomi 13T series look stunning.

Redmi 13C render images reveal a triple camera setup and USB-C https://xiaomiui.net/redmi-13c-render-images-reveal-a-triple-camera-setup-and-usb-c-51503/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 09:20:53 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=51503 Render images of the new “Redmi C” series phone, Redmi 13C has surfaced. Redmi 13C is set to follow in the footsteps of the Redmi 12C as its successor. Although a complete specification sheet is currently unavailable, it’s evident from the design that this new phone is targeted at the entry-level device market. One notable upgrade in the Redmi 13C when compared to its predecessor is the triple camera setup, whereas Redmi 12C featured a dual camera setup with a main camera and a depth sensor.

Redmi 13C follows Xiaomi’s well-known design aesthetics but the back of the phone looks a little more glossy than the 12C. At the top of the phone, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, while at the bottom, in addition to the speaker and microphone, there is also a USB Type-C charging port. Finally, Xiaomi has been able to implement a USB-C port in the “Redmi C” series phones, as most of the previous Redmi C series phones had come with microUSB port.

Thanks to the new law brought by the European Union, modern phones are now required to have a USB-C charging port until 2024, with the aim of being able to charge all devices using a single cable. iPhone 15 series has also abandoned Apple’s proprietary port Lightning, in favor of switching to USB-C.

Xiaomi Band 8 and Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro with WearOS unveiled today https://xiaomiui.net/mi-band-8-and-xiaomi-watch-2-pro-with-wearos-unveiled-today-51453/ Tue, 26 Sep 2023 13:13:55 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=51453 Xiaomi has finally introduced Xiaomi Band 8 and Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro in the global market. Xiaomi Band 8 had already been introduced in China earlier than the September 26 launch event, and now it’s available in the global market. On the other hand, Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro will only be available in the global market but not in China. Both devices are actually smartwatches, but Xiaomi Band 8 is essentially a simple fitness tracker, while the Watch 2 Pro is much more feature-rich and comes with the WearOS operating system. You can make voice calls with the watch and make contactless payments using your watch.

Xiaomi Band 8

Xiaomi Band 8 follows a familiar design philosophy, just like its predecessors in the Mi Band series. It boasts a compact form factor, measuring 10.99mm in thickness and weighing 27 grams.

60 Hz display

Xiaomi Band 8 features a 1.62-inch OLED display with a resolution of 192×490 (326 ppi) and the brightness of 600 nits. Xiaomi Band 8 has a 190 mAh battery, which can last up to 16 days with always on display off and 6 days with always on mode on.

This new smart band incorporates some features commonly featured in previous Mi Band series, including 5ATM water resistance, heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level tracking, stress monitoring, and sleep tracking.

Xiaomi Band 8 will bring brand new Pebble Mode. You can get an extra accessory to use the Band 8 on top of your shoe, that way you can receive more detailed information on your fitness activity. Xiaomi Band 8 will cost 39 EUR in Europe.

Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro

Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro comes with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that supports always on mode. The watch runs WearOS, has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. With the help of WearOS, the users can install apps from Google Play Store.

Since the Watch 2 Pro supports e-SIM, it is possible to make voice calls without being connected to a phone. The e-SIM functionality actually makes the watch a lot more capable than the Band 8.

Xiaomi 13T series launched globally, specs and pricing here! https://xiaomiui.net/xiaomi-13t-series-launched-globally-specs-and-pricing-here-51447/ Tue, 26 Sep 2023 12:54:40 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=51447 Xiaomi 13T series has finally been introduced in the global market. Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro come with a solid camera setup and very good performance. This year’s “Xiaomi T series” comes with a telephoto camera, available in both the vanilla and pro models. Xiaomi claims that the new 13T series cameras are powered by Leica, but please note that Xiaomi 13T will come with Leica cameras in only some regions. Now, let’s take a closer look at Xiaomi 13T series.

Xiaomi 13T

Xiaomi 13T comes in three different color options, Meadow Green, Alpine Blue and Black and both the 13T and 13T Pro IP68 certification. This year’s Xiaomi 13T series features a flat display. Xiaomi 13T comes with a 6.67-inch 1.5K 144 Hz OLED display. Additionally, Xiaomi 13T boasts a display with a brightness of 2600 nits, which means it is brighter than the displays found on most of the flagship devices in 2023.

144 Hz display 2600 nits

Xiaomi 13T is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra chipset. While it may not be MediaTek’s most powerful chipset, it still promises to deliver excellent performance. The phone opts for UFS 3.1 as its storage unit.

Both Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro feature the same camera setup. Xiaomi 13T comes with a 50 MP Sony IMX 707 sensor for its main camera (1/1.28″ in size), an 8 MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 2x 50 MP telephoto camera. Despite having the Sony IMX 707 sensor, Xiaomi 13T, does not support 4K60 video recording unfortunately. It does offer 4K30 video recording, but you’ll need to switch to FHD resolution to record at 60 FPS. Note that the main camera has OIS.

This years Xiaomi T series brings the ability to set your own “photographic style”. This is pretty much like a preset that has been built into the stock camera app. You can take multiple shots with the same color tuning as you determined.

Custom photographic style Portrait effects

Xiaomi 13T packs a 5000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging, it’s not fast as the 13T Pro but it’s quite good for most of the people.

Compared to the previous model, Xiaomi 13T offers significant improvements. Last year’s 12T series did not come with a telephoto camera, and the 13T’s display boasts 2600 nits of brightness, which is on par with the maximum screen brightness of the 13 Ultra. With its flagship-level display and a decent camera setup, Xiaomi 13T looks to be a competitive phone this year.

Xiaomi 13T Pro

There isn’t much of a difference between Xiaomi 13T Pro and Xiaomi 13T, except for the chipset and battery. We say there is not too much difference between the devices but it’s worth considering to buy the 13T Pro if you need better performance.

Xiaomi 13T Pro is available in Meadow Green, Alpine Blue and Black colors. Both the 13T and 13T Pro have leather back and same color options. Xiaomi 13T Pro features the same display as the 13T, a 6.67-inch 144 Hz OLED display with 1.5K resolution, and a maximum brightness of 2600 nits.

Xiaomi 13T Pro is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM. It also uses UFS 4.0 as the storage unit. You can be sure that the Pro model is significantly faster than the vanilla 13T.

Last year, Xiaomi 12T series featured both Snapdragon and MediaTek chipset. Xiaomi 12T Pro came with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. However, this year, both the 13T and 13T Pro come with MediaTek chipsets. We’re not claiming that the Dimensity 9200+ is a bad processor, but this may disappoint some Snapdragon lovers.

Just like the vanilla Xiaomi 13T, the 13T Pro also comes with a 50 MP Sony IMX 707 sensor for the main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2x 50 MP Omnivision OV50D telephoto camera. What 13T Pro can do but the vanilla model can’t is the 10-bit LOG video recording.

5000 mAh battery 120W charging

On the battery side, Xiaomi 13T Pro offers slightly better capabilities compared to the vanilla 13T, featuring a 5000 mAh battery and 120W fast charging. Xiaomi promises a full charge within 19 minutes.

4 years of Android updates

Xiaomi also offers 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security updates for each phones.

Xiaomi 13T series pricing

Xiaomi 13T series pricing information has been revealed with today’s launch event but keep in mind that the pricing may differ based on your region. Here’s the pricing of both devices.

Xiaomi 13T

  • 8GB+256GB – 649 EUR

Xiaomi 13T Pro

  • 12GB+256GB – 799 EUR
  • 12GB+512GB – 849 EUR
  • 16GB+1TB – 999 EUR

What do you think about the pricing of Xiaomi 13T series? Would you consider buying any of these phones?

Xiaomi 14’s 90W charging speed is confirmed https://xiaomiui.net/xiaomi-14s-90w-charging-speed-is-confirmed-51383/ Fri, 22 Sep 2023 14:19:06 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=51383 Xiaomi 14 is set to make debut in the upcoming months, very likely in October or November this year. The charging speed of Xiaomi 14 just came up through the 3C certification even before the official launch. Initial rumors had hinted at a 90W charging speed for Xiaomi 14, and the recently unveiled certificate actually confirms this claim. Xiaomi now adopts a 90W charging standard for its premium devices, we can expect this fast 90W charging capability in more devices, extending beyond Xiaomi 14.

Xiaomi 14 - 90W charger

The 3C certification indicates that the upcoming MDY-14-EC charger is set to be used for the device with the model number 23127PN0CC, delivering a maximum output of 90W. As previously detailed in our earlier article, we confirmed that the device identified by the model number ‘23127PN0CC’ corresponds to the standard Xiaomi 14. The charger to be offered with Xiaomi 14 is capable of delivering a maximum output of 90W within the voltage range of 5-20V, at current levels ranging from 6.1-4.5A.

It’s worth noting that 90W charging isn’t the fastest charging speed available for Xiaomi smartphones. However, due to various factors affecting the manufacturing of phones, the fastest charging option may not be suitable for every model. The vanilla Xiaomi 14 will feature a compact design, akin to its predecessor Xiaomi 13.

Xiaomi 13 with compact design

Since there is not much free space inside the compact phones, smartphone manufacturers can sacrifice charging speed. Xiaomi 13 with a 6.36-inch compact display came with a 4500 mAh battery and 67W fast charging. Xiaomi 14 is known to have 90W fast charging, but the battery capacity is still a mystery.
