Honor is expected to debut the successor of its Honor Magic V3, which impressed fans with its arrival due to its thin form. However, the title of being the thinnest foldable in the market will soon be stolen from said model by the Oppo Find N5, which will only measure 8.93mm when folded.

Nevertheless, according to a new leak, Honor is already preparing its next book-style foldable, the Honor Magic V4. Leaker account Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo claimed that the model could arrive at the end of May or early June.

While the details about the phone are still scarce, Smart Pikachu, another leaker on Weibo, claimed that the phone would have a bigger battery with around 6000mAh capacity. This is a huge upgrade from the 5150mAh battery in the Magic V3. The account also shared that it would remain “thin and light,” although it is unknown if it would be thinner than the Find N5 or the Magic V3. To recall, the latter offers the following:

  • 9.2mm (folded) / 4.35mm (unfolded) thickness

Xiaomi updates software support policy for Redmi Note 14 4G global variant, extends update to 6 years https://xiaomiui.net/redmi-note-14-4g-global-extends-update-6-years-61478/ Tue, 18 Feb 2025 07:01:29 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=61478 Xiaomi silently updated its support policy for the global variant of its Redmi Note 14 4G, giving it a total of 6 years of software updates.

The change is now available on the company’s website, where it is confirmed that the global variant of the Redmi Note 14 4G now has extended years of software support. According to the document, the 4G smartphone now offers six years of security updates and four major Android updates. This means that the Redmi Note 14 4G should now be able to reach Android 18 in 2027, while its official update EOL is in 2031.

Interestingly, only the 4G global variant of the phone, leaving the other Redmi Note 14 series models with shorter years of support. This includes the Redmi Note 14 5G, which remains to have two major Android updates and four years of security updates.

We still don’t know why Xiaomi chose to apply only the change to one model on the list, but we hope to see it soon in other Xiaomi and Redmi devices.

Stay tuned for updates!

Compact Oppo Find X8 model specs leak, including downgraded camera details https://xiaomiui.net/compact-oppo-find-x8-model-specs-leak-61461/ Mon, 17 Feb 2025 07:12:48 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=61461 A new leak reveals most of the major details of the rumored compact model of the Oppo Find X8 series.

There is a growing trend among smartphone brands in China these days involving compact phones. After Vivo released the Vivo X200 Pro Mini, it was revealed that other brands started working on their own compact models. One such brand is Oppo, which is expected to introduce a compact model in the Find X8 series.

While earlier reports named it the “Oppo Find X8 Mini,” reputable leaker Digital Chat Station said that it wouldn’t use the Mini monicker. With this, it is still unknown how it will be named in the market.

Nevertheless, this is not the highlight of today’s leak. According to the tipster’s most recent post, the phone will indeed boast a 6.3″ 1.5K + 120Hz LTPO display.

In the back, there will be a trio of cameras. Sadly, the account underscored that the system follows the same configuration as the brand’s Find N5 foldable model. To recall, the Find N5’s rumored camera system is kind of disappointing when compared to its predecessor. While the Find N3 has a 48MP main camera, a 64MP 3x telephoto, and a 48MP ultrawide, the Find N5 is expected to just offer a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto, and an 8MP ultrawide. According to DCS, the periscope could be a 3.5X JN5 sensor.

Aside from those, the tipster also revealed that the compact Oppo Find X8 will offer a push-type custom button, which will allow users to select a specific action for it. It also reportedly comes with metal side frames, a weight of around 180g, 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging support.

Google disables Earthquake Alerts System in Brazil due to false alarms https://xiaomiui.net/google-disables-earthquake-alerts-brazil-false-alarms-61453/ Mon, 17 Feb 2025 07:07:53 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=61453 Google’s Earthquake Alerts System experienced a major error in Brazil, prompting the search giant to temporarily disable it.

The feature provides alerts to users to prepare for an incoming disastrous earthquake. It basically sends an initial warning (P-wave) before the higher and more destructive S-wave occurs.

The Earthquake Alerts System has proven effective in various instances but has also failed in the past. Unfortunately, the system produced false alarms again.

Last week, users in Brazil received alerts around 2 AM, warning them of an earthquake with a 5.5 Richter rating. However, while it is a good thing that the earthquake didn’t happen, many users were alarmed by the notification.

Google apologized for the error and disabled the feature. A probe is now ongoing to determine the cause of the false alarm.

The Android Earthquake Alert System is a complementary system that uses Android phones to quickly estimate earthquake vibrations and provide alerts to people. It is not designed to replace any other official alert system. On February 14, our system detected cell phone signals near the coast of São Paulo and triggered an earthquake alert to users in the region. We promptly disabled the alert system in Brazil and are investigating the incident. We apologize to our users for the inconvenience and remain committed to improving our tools.
