Mi models with current design trends and the best hardware of their era have undergone a number of differences over time. Today, Xiaomi’s main models promise users a unique experience. Let’s take a look at all the flagship Xiaomi models that have been introduced since 2018.

Beginning of Xiaomi Mi Series Evolution | Mi 8

With the Xiaomi Mi 8, a major change in design has begun in Xiaomi’s flagship models. The design lines of the previous model, the Mi 6, were quite ordinary. the 16:9 screen no longer satisfied the users. The Xiaomi Mi 8 had a dual camera setup positioned upright on the back, offering an unbeatable experience with a much larger screen compared to its predecessor. The Xiaomi Mi 8’s screen is 6.21 inches, growing 1.06 inches relative to the Mi 6. It is also Xiaomi’s first flagship model with a notch. The front and back design of the Mi 8 was largely similar to the iPhone X.

Mi 8 Explorer Edition Design 2

Xiaomi Mi 8 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. RAM/Storage options have big differences compared to Mi 6. The Xiaomi Mi 8 is available in 4 variants, including 6/64, 6/128, 8/128 and 6/256 GB. The Mi 6 has 4/64, 6/64 and 6/128 GB of RAM/storage options. With the new model, the RAM upper limit in the variants reached 8 GB and the storage upper limit reached 256 GB.
The Mi 8 is quite similar to its predecessor when it comes to battery and charging speed. The battery capacity is only 50 mAh higher than the Mi 6’s 3350 mAh battery. It does not have any novelty in charging power, it charges with 18W.

Xiaomi Mi 9 | First model to use under-display fingerprint scanner

The Xiaomi Mi 9 was introduced in February 2019 and went on sale 1 months later. This model has a much longer screen, better camera setup and better material quality than the Mi 8. The 6.39-inch FHD Super AMOLED display with a 19:5:9 ratio adopted the water drop notch form instead of the large notch on the Mi 8. The rear side has more oval edges and the number of rear cameras has been increased to three.

The camera resolution increased by 4 times to 48 MP. Using the Sony IMX 586 camera sensor, the Mi 9’s day and night shooting performance is much better than its predecessor. This model comes with an ultrawide camera sensor. The new camera sensor allowed you to shoot wide-angle shots of 117 degrees. There were no improvements to the telephoto camera sensor. On the hardware side, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 platform.

The biggest difference of this chipset from Snapdragon 845 was that it was switched to 7nm and offered much higher graphics performance. This model, introduced by Xiaomi in 2019, has 5 different RAM / storage options: 6/64, 8/64, 6/128, 8/128, 8/256 GB. The battery capacity is 3300mAh, down 100mAh from its predecessor. However, this model charges much faster than the Mi 8. Mi 8’s 18W charging power has been replaced by 27W. In addition, the wireless charging feature started to be used with the Mi 9 series. Xiaomi Mi 9 supports 20W wireless charging.

Xiaomi Mi 10 & Mi 10 Pro | More elegant than predecessor

Moreover, the High refresh rate was offered for the first time with the Mi 10 series. The device with a 90Hz refresh rate is much smoother than the previous model.

The number of rear cameras increased to 4 with the Mi 10 series. Mi 9 has a telephoto sensor while Mi 10 does not. The resolution of the main camera has increased from 48MP to 108MP. In addition, the performance of wide-angle shots has been improved and macro shots are possible with the new sensor.
With the Mi 10 series, there has been a big increase in video quality. With the support of OIS, the shakes in video recordings have been greatly reduced and the maximum resolution has been increased to 8K.

On the battery side, after the Mi 9 with a low battery with a capacity of 3300mAh, the large 4780mAh battery of the Mi 10 attracted great attention from users. The charging power has increased to 30W both wired and wirelessly. In addition, the 5W reverse charging function has been added. Using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 platform, the Mi 10 family got 5G support with this chipset. Mi 10 model has 8/128 GB, 6/256, 8/256 and 12/256 GB RAM/storage options while Mi 10 Pro has 8/256, 12/256 and 12/512 GB variants.

The Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 are quite similar models, but the camera setup of the Mi 10 Pro is much more advanced. Mi 10 Pro has two telephoto sensors instead of macro and depth sensors. Mi 10 Pro’s first telephoto sensor has 3.7x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom capabilities, while the second telephoto sensor can do up to 2x optical zoom.

Xiaomi Mi 11 & Mi 11 Pro

The Xiaomi Mi 11 family, introduced in January, has much simpler and more elegant design lines compared to the previous generation. 5 Reasons to buy Xiaomi 13 Pro! https://xiaomiui.net/5-reasons-to-buy-xiaomi-13-pro-44024/ Sun, 12 Mar 2023 14:47:38 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=44024 The Xiaomi 13 Pro is Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphone that launched globally in March. Compared to previous flagship models, the new model brings many innovations and has characteristic differences.

Xiaomi’s new flagship is now a much premium smartphone compared to the Xiaomi 12 series. Software-side improvements and groundbreaking camera innovations make the 13 Pro unbeatable. This model has Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, and features a fairly good screen and camera .

Reasons to choose Xiaomi 13 Pro | Performance

Xiaomi’s latest flagship model has hardware features that are unrivaled on the performance side. The phone, which uses Qualcomm’s new platform Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, is available to users with high RAM/storage options. The storage unit of the Xiaomi 13 Pro, which has 8/128, 8/256, 12/256 and 12/512 GB options, is UFS 3.1 in the 128 GB variants, and UFS 4.0 in the 256 and 512 GB variants.

Storage unit type not unique to Xiaomi. A similar difference exists between the 128GB and 256GB variants of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. UFS 4.0 technology is the latest storage standard and is much faster compared to UFS 3.1.

Xiaomi 13 Pro comes out of the box with Android 13-based MIUI 14 interface. The new MIUI interface uses the hardware effectively and allows you to use your device in a stable manner at all times.

In benchmark results, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is one of the most powerful models in the segment with a score of 1,281,666 in AnTuTu v9. In Geekbench 5, it amazes users with 1452 single-core scores and 4649 multi-core scores.

Great rear camera setup in collaboration with LEICA

Xiaomi introduced its flagship models with Leica lenses in the Chinese market last year. The Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra were the first to use the brand’s Leica lenses. Due to shortcomings on the camera software side, these devices could not use their capabilities.

With the Xiaomi 13 series, Leica lenses can be used efficiently. On the hardware and software side, Xiaomi has made major changes compared to the old series, creating a new revolution in the camera industry.

The camera setup of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is quite rich. The main camera has a 50.3 MP resolution, f/1.9 aperture and is OIS supported. The second camera is a 50MP f/2.0 telephoto sensor that can zoom up to 3.2x. The third camera also has a 50 MP resolution and allows you to take 115-degree ultra-wide-angle photos.

The features of the rear camera setup are quite similar to the Xiaomi 12 Pro at first glance. But there is a huge difference between them. The main camera of the 13 Pro is Sony’s IMX989 sensor and is 1.0 inches. The main camera of the 12 Pro, is the Sony IMX 707 sensor and is 1/1.28-inch. On the telephoto sensor, the Xiaomi 12 Pro has up to 2x optical zoom, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro has 3.2x.

In addition, it has a screen density of 522 ppi.

BMW Digital Car Key Support

If you have a new BMW car, you do not need to carry the car key with you thanks to the Xiaomi 13 series. Immediately after the introduction of the Xiaomi 13 series, Lei Jun announced that its new flagship models will support the Digital key of BMW brand cars. If you own a Xiaomi 13 Pro and a new BMW car, you can pair your digital key with Google Wallet to unlock and start your car over the phone.

Conclusion

Xiaomi 13 Pro has great improvements over the previous generation. As a result of the collaboration with Leica on the camera side, Xiaomi experienced a major revolution. In the future, the Xiaomi 13 series is expected to get a good result in the DXOMARK ranking. On the other hand, its high performance allows you to play the high graphics games you want smoothly. If you are considering buying a high-end Android smartphone, you can opt for the Xiaomi 13 Pro.

POCO C55 Review : Price / Performance Monster! https://xiaomiui.net/poco-c55-review-price-performance-monster-43948/ Sun, 12 Mar 2023 10:33:07 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=43948 The POCO C55 is a new alternative for users on a limited budget in the Indian market with its affordable price. The new model, which was introduced on February 21, has a lot of innovations compared to its predecessor, the POCO C40. What distinguishes this performance leader in its segment from the others? We take a detailed first look at the new smartphone.

POCO C55 Review : Design & Screen

This new phone has a pretty simple design. The phone has a 6.71-inch 60Hz 720×1650 pixel IPS LCD panel, has a screen density of 268 PPI, and a screen-to-body ratio of 82.6%. The screen frames are thick, but this is quite normal as it is budget-friendly. The screen is protected by Panda Glass instead of Corning Gorilla Glass. The screen design of the POCO C55 has the usual drip notch form.

The frames and the back are made of plastic. The device weighs 192 grams and has a thickness of 8.8mm. Since the battery capacity of such entry-level smartphones is high, the thickness is increasing to reduce production costs.

The biggest increase in this device is that it has IP52 certification. POCO’s new model is water and dust resistant. The screen and material quality of the POCO C55 is ideal for its segment. However, even in 2023, the use of a 720p resolution screen can be considered a disadvantage.

POCO C55 Review : Camera

The POCO C55 has two camera sensors on the back. The main camera is Omnivision’s OV50C 50MP sensor. The primary camera has an f/1.8 aperture and can record video at up to 1080p@30FPS. EIS and OIS are not available. The second camera sensor is a 2 MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 5 MP HDR camera. You can record 1080p@30FPS videos with the front camera.

The camera setup is comparable to its competitors except for the depth sensor. With the main camera, you can take photos that are acceptable in light environments. On the other hand, if a modified Google Camera package for this device is developed by users, it can get much better results.

POCO C55 Review : Platform & Software

The POCO C55 uses the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, which is available in many models. This chipset was previously used in Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 8 (2021) models. The Helio G85 consists of 2x Cortex A75 cores and 6x Cortex A55 cores. On the GPU side, it is powered by the Mali-G52 MC2.

POCO’s new smartphone comes with very good RAM/Storage options according to its segment. Available in 4/64 and 6/128 GB options, the storage unit uses the eMMC 5.1 standard.

The new model to the POCO C series, the C55, has a much higher performance chipset compared to its rival, the Realme C30s. It is also much better than the GPU. The POCO C55’s GPU operates at a frequency of 1000 MHz, while the PowerVR GE8322 graphics unit only operates at 550 MHz.

Although you can’t play high-graphics games like Genshin Impact with this smartphone, you can play games like PUBG Mobile fluently in medium settings.

Also, this model comes out of the box with an Android 12-based MIUI 13 interface. Android 13 internal testing is currently underway for the POCO C55. Android 13 update is expected to be available in the coming months. Since it is an entry-level model, it will only receive 1 Android version update. But no need to worry, it will get 2 MIUI updates and get Android security updates for 3 years.

POCO C55 Review : Battery

The POCO C55 will satisfy users on the battery side. The device, which has a Li-Po battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, supports a maximum charge of 10 W. Another disadvantage of this device is that it does not have fast charging support. However, the battery life is above its competitors. With 720p screen resolution and the efficient Helio G85 chipset, you will forget when was the last time you fully charged it.

POCO C55 Review: Conclusion

The POCO C55, the new model that POCO introduced and launched in February, is a price/performance monster with a price tag of about $105. This model, which makes a big difference to its competitors on the performance side, is satisfactory on the camera side. With unrivaled battery life, the POCO C55 makes sense for users on a tight budget.

The new alternative of eSIM: iSIM was introduced at MWC 2023! https://xiaomiui.net/the-new-alternative-of-esim-isim-was-introduced-at-mwc-2023-43866/ Thu, 02 Mar 2023 20:31:05 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=43866 The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2023), which is held annually, began on February 27th and continued until March 2nd. Many manufacturers introduced their new products at the fair. Xiaomi’s new flagship models, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, as well as their accessories, drew the attention of visitors at the fair.

Qualcomm and Thales unveiled the world’s first GSMA-compliant iSIM technology at MWC 2023 and announced that it compatible with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform. The acronym “iSIM” stands for “Integrated SIM”. It is expected to replace the Embedded SIM (eSIM) technology, which has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Advantages of the iSIM

iSIM has a similar technology to eSIM. However, the biggest advantage of iSIM is that it is a much more economical solution. The components required for eSIM technology take up space inside smartphones. iSIM, on the other hand, eliminates the component clutter created by eSIM by being placed inside the chipset. In addition, since there is no additional component on the motherboard of the phone, manufacturers can reduce production costs. Furthermore, manufacturers can repurpose the space left by moving away from eSIM and adopting this new technology for other components such as a larger battery or better cooling system.

Although the Integrated SIM technology may not be used in new devices in the short term, it is estimated that the first smartphones using iSIM will be available in Q2 2023. In the future, Xiaomi smartphones using Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 may include this feature.

Revolution in battery technology: What is Xiaomi solid-state battery technology? https://xiaomiui.net/revolution-in-battery-technology-what-is-xiaomi-solid-state-battery-technology-43774/ Wed, 01 Mar 2023 13:59:57 +0000 https://xiaomiui.net/?p=43774 Today, Xiaomi announced solid-state battery technology on Weibo that will revolutionize the battery industry. This new battery technology has a high energy capacity and is safer than regular batteries, making it a significant innovation for smartphones, as indicated by various tests.

One of the most significant differences between solid-state batteries and regular batteries is the shape of the electrolyte. Solid-state batteries upgrade the electrolyte entirely or partially to solid-state electrolytes, making them much more durable against impacts and providing longer battery life.

Advantages of solid-state battery technology

  • Energy density exceeds 1000Wh/L.
  • Discharge performance at low temperatures increases by 20%.
  • Success rate against mechanical shocks (needle insertion test) increases significantly.

The significant advantage of solid-state batteries is their high energy density. Increasing energy density in current chemical batteries has been a significant challenge for the industry. The storage capacity of solid-state batteries is two to three times greater than that of silicon oxide materials, significantly increasing the battery’s energy density. Moreover, the structure of solid-state batteries makes them more durable, significantly reducing the potential for short circuits in the battery.

The development and production processes of this battery technology still face significant challenges and cannot yet be mass-produced. However, laboratory tests show that solid-state batteries’ energy density exceeds 1000Wh/L. Xiaomi used a 6000mAh ultra-large capacity solid-state battery in the Xiaomi 13 prototypes. The final version of the Xiaomi 13 has a 4500 mAh capacity battery. The new battery technology is clearly seen to have a much larger capacity than regular batteries.

Solid-state battery technology offers high endurance at low temperatures!

The 20% increase in low-temperature discharge performance makes solid-state batteries more reliable in winter. Due to the characteristic properties of the liquid used in the electrolytes of regular batteries, the liquid’s viscosity sharply increases at low temperatures, hindering the transport of ions. This significantly worsens regular batteries’ discharge performance in cold weather. Replacing current electrolytes with solid-state electrolytes is ideal for maintaining discharge performance even in low-temperature environments.

We can see the new solid-state battery technology in many Xiaomi smartphone models in the coming years. The most exciting feature of this technology is that the high-capacity batteries will now be much smaller in size, and the thickness of the phones can be greatly thinner.
