Qualcomm and Xiaomi refreshed their partnership. Meanwhile, the alleged CAD renders of the Xiaomi 16 have surfaced online.
Xiaomi will upgrade its numbered flagship series this year with the introduction of the Xiaomi 16 lineup. Amid the wait, rumors started about Xiaomi possibly ending its collaboration with Qualcomm. To recall, the brand recently unveiled its own in-house 3nm Xring O1 chipset. The SoC is reportedly a good match against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
However, Qualcomm dismissed the rumors this week after affirming its continuous relationship with the Chinese smartphone giant. The company also shared that Xiaomi will continue using its flagship chips in its future models, including the Xiaomi 16 series.
“Qualcomm Technologies and Xiaomi’s multi-year agreement centers around leading innovation with premium smartphones globally,” Qualcomm’s press release reads. “Xiaomi’s premium smartphones will continue to be powered by the industry-leading Snapdragon 8-series for multiple generations of products, sold in China and global markets, with volume increasing each year of the agreement. Later this year, Xiaomi will be one of the first to adopt the next-generation premium Snapdragon 8-series.”
In related news, the CAD renders of the Xiaomi 16 series emerged online, showing us an almost identical look (albeit improved) to the Xiaomi 15. According to the images, the Xiaomi 16 will continue employing a flat design with a square-shaped camera island. The back also seems to have a dual-tone design in the form of a rectangular element in the lower segment of the back panel.
