Vivo is providing free anti-glare cases for Vivo X200 Pro and Vivo X200 Pro Mini users experiencing camera glare issues.
The move is part of the company’s plan to resolve the camera issue reported by users in October. To recall, Vivo VP Huang Tao explained that the “very extreme off-screen glare” happened due to the arc of the lens and its f/1.57 aperture. When using the camera at specific angles and the light hits it, a glare occurs.
“According to our past experience, off-screen glare is a common phenomenon in optical photography, and the probability of triggering is very low, which has little impact on normal photography, so there is generally no special off-screen glare test,” the VP wrote in his post.
After several reports, the company rolled out a به روز رسانی جهانی last December. The update features a new photo glare reduction switch, which can be activated in Album > Image editing > AI erase > Glare reduction.
Now, to further eliminate the issue for the remaining devices experiencing it, Vivo is providing free anti-glare cases. Huang Tao shared this plan in the past, saying that users with a severe problem like this could be offered hardware-based solutions through the use of some “free” accessories.
Users in China only need to contact customer service directly and provide their device IMEI to request a case. Color options for the cases include blue, pink, and gray. It is unknown whether it will also be provided to the affected users in the global markets.
