Here’s why Google’s solutions for Pixel 4a’s battery issues are even more problematic

An update caused the battery of Pixel 4a to crash. Google is offering help, but it appears to be more of a problem than a solution.

Recently, Google pushed an update to the Google Pixel 4a devices, promising to address battery issues. While the update promises stability, it also warns users of the possibility of shortening their battery life.

While many gambled, no one expected that the update would completely kill the battery life of their units, causing Pixel 4a phones with the said update to be unusable. According to users, before the update, their devices can still last a day, but installing it further worsens the case.

Now, Google Pixel 4a users are finding ways to prevent their units from receiving the update. Others suggested rolling back to the former versions of their systems, but it has recently been discovered that Google deleted the old firmware to prevent rollback. Now, the only update users have is the TQ3A.230805.001.S2.

To appease users, Google is offering a $100 credit for users who want to upgrade to a new device. However, it is important to note that it is only a fraction of the price of a new Pixel phone from the company, so buyers still have to spend at least $400 to get a new unit.

The search giant is also offering a free battery replacement for affected units. However, the downside of this option is that Google service centers inspect units for other issues. When other issues are present, users are required to pay for their repair. Since Pixel 4a is one of the company’s oldest models, many problems could also surface during the inspection, resulting in other expenses.

This leaves Google Pixel 4a users with almost no choice but to spend more to address the problem.

We reached out to Google for a comment, but the giant remains silent about the matter.
