According to a tweet the whistleblower Yogesh Brar shared, Pixel 7 series that are soon to be on the market may not be receiving any major upgrades, and they will continue to use the optics that are present in its predecessor Pixel 6. One great thing that we like in Google smartphones is that the camera is a priority and they are considerably cheaper for this camera quality than its counterparts in Apple but making no major changes on the camera with Pixel 7 series is a bit unfortunate.
Pixel 7 Series: No Major Camera Upgrade
Google Pixel devices are famous for their fascinating camera performance. They bring up an intense challenge to the smartphone market in spite of being cheaper than iPhone and Galaxy S devices and beating them in camera quality. With the decision to not do any major upgrades on the new Pixel 7 series however, whether Google will preserve its reputation in cameras or not is yet to be seen.
We will most likely see the same optics on the Pixel 7/ 7 Pro that Pixel 6/ 6 Pro had.
Sensors might get see some optimization, rest of the magic will be done by software

However, this is not to say that there will not be any changes, as Google is making more and more improvement in the software and these improvements will also be affecting the camera quality as well. So, even if there may not be any major upgrade in terms of hardware, the camera quality and features will still be enhanced with the newer software updates.
In the back of it, Pixel 6 is using a dual camera where one has 50 MP with OIS support and f/1.9 aperture and the other has 12 MP with f/2.2 aperture that can take ultra wide angle photos. On the front, we see an 8 MP wide angle camera with f/2.0 aperture. The main camera can shoot 4K videos up to 60 FPS and full HD videos up to 240 FPS. Pixel 7 series are expected to have the same specs, but on a better adjusted software improving the quality of the photos and videos taken by the camera.
