Ua wehe ʻo Xiaomi i ka Xiaomi 15 a me Xiaomi 15 Ultra at MWC, signaling the phones’ official arrival in the global market. However, the devices are not the only highlight of today’s news. Aside from the handhelds, the Chinese giant unveiled a prototype of a detachable magnetic lens module it is working on called “Modular Optical System.”
The module can be attached to the models in the Xiaomi 15 series using magnets, instantly giving the phones access to more powerful imaging capabilities. According to Xiaomi, the lens module uses an M43 sensor, which is much larger than what is found in any smartphone on the market. The sensor provides an f1.4 aperture and a 35mm focal length fixed-focus lens, ensuring better details and low-light performance during any scene. At the event, the brand showed a modified Xiaomi 15 series model with a Qi2 magnet.
Here are some sample photos taken using the Xiaomi’s Modular Optical System:
ʻOiai he mea hoihoi kēia, he mea nui ia e hoʻomaopopo i ke ʻano o ka module lens camera magnetic i kona pae prototype. Eia nō naʻe, ua ʻōlelo ka leaker kaulana ʻo Digital Chat Station i kahi pou i hala aku nei e hiki ke hana nui ʻia ka mea kōkua i ka wā e hiki mai ana.
Currently, Xiaomi only offers a photography kit specifically made for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It includes two detachable shutter buttons, a 67mm filter adapter ring, and more. Needless to say, it doesn’t offer the same power as the aforementioned magnetic camera lens module and only covers the Ultra model. With this, we really hope that the magnetic camera lens module will hit the market soon.
