HMD D2M models with internet-free streaming to arrive in India soon

HMD fans in India could soon get a smartphone that can stream media without the need for WiFi.

The brand has collaborated with Free Stream Technologies and other companies (like Tejas Networks, Prasar Bharti, and IIT Kanpur) to create Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology-powered phones in India. The smartphones will be designed and produced in India and are expected to be offered at affordable prices. Trials involving the phones are now ongoing, with the large-scale field test happening soon.

The official monikers of the said HMD D2M phones are not yet known, but the devices should allow users to stream media without the use of the internet. This includes texts, video, audio, emergency alerts, software updates, and live TV. This is possible through frequencies, which will deliver the media to the devices.

Stay tuned for updates!
