Honor Magic series models now have 7 years of Android, security updates

All of the Honor Magic series devices will now enjoy seven years of Android and security updates.

The news came from the brand itself after confirming it at the MWC event in Barcelona. The move came amid the growing number of brands extending the years of support for their devices.

The decision is said to be a part of the Honor Alpha Plan, which aims “to transform Honor from a smartphone maker to a global leading AI device ecosystem company.” As such, in addition to the “seven years of Android OS and security updates,” users of the said devices can also expect “cutting-edge AI features and innovative functionalities for years to come.” It is important to note, however, that the announcement excludes the Magic Lite series. The plan will start with devices in the EU.

Recently, the brand made some significant advances in integrating AI into its devices. In addition to announcing the rollout of its AI Deepfake Detection in April 2025, the brand also confirmed that DeepSeek finally now supports several of its smartphone models. Honor said that DeepSeek would be supported through MagicOs 8.0 and above OS versions and YOYO assistant 80.0.1.503 version (9.0.2.15 and above for the MagicBook) and above. These devices include:

  • Honor Magic 7
  • Honor Magic V
  • Honor Magic Vs3
  • Honor Magic V2
  • Honor Magic Vs2
  • Honor MagicBook Pro
  • Honor MagicBook Art
