In order to manage the phones from the computer, we need to turn on the USB debugging feature. You can follow this tutorial to turn on this feature.
We need to enable USB debugging to enter commands from the computer, control the phone remotely, customize MIUI and so on. To enable USB debugging, we first need to open the Developer options. You can open the developer options by following the guide here.

How Do I Enable USB Debugging on MIUI?
Since we are going to change the settings of our phone, we need to enter the settings of our phone. We enter the settings by pressing the Settings icon in the Launcher.
Swipe down and enter Additional Settings
Enter Developer Options
Scroll down and enable USB Debugging, USB Debugging for Security Settings and Install via USB settings
You will have successfully turned on the USB debugging feature with this method.To use it, simply connect your phone to a PC using a USB cable. When you do this, you will see a prompt on your phone asking if you want to authorize USB Debugging for that particular computer.
Now you can control your phone from the computer, install applications, do your tests and change various settings.
