How to Install Android on PC as Operating System

Recently popular mobile games have increased the interest in Android emulators (Gameloop, Bluestacks, MeMu), but most of them are very resource consuming and mostly laggy. Moreover, it doesn’t runs at all computers.

Alright, Do you know how to install Android without using emulator? Let’s get started.

What is Android x86 Project?

Android x86 is an open source project created in 2009. As you know, Android systems are mostly ARM architecture based. This project aims to porting Android to x86 systems. Of course, this OS based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project).

This OS has good features, thanks to the “taskbar”, you can use android applications just like windows applications. You can also adjust the keys while playing games with “keymapping”.

The project was well received, it offers a good alternative to old computers because low budget PCs don’t run Windows after a while. In this case, Android x86 can be a good selection for you.

Over time this project evolves and different developers start creating different distros. Bliss OS, Remix OS, Phoenix OS, Prime OS, etc.

Android x86 Installation

Firstly, choose a distro for yourself. Let’s start with the 3 most popular distros. AOSP x86, Bliss OS and Phoenix OS.

If you have a new generation computer, install Bliss OS. because it’s more up-to-date, advanced and has more customization than others. Plus it even got Android 12.

If your computer is a little old, you can install AOSP x86. Compatible with almost all computers. Smooth and stable.

If your computer is very old, your processor doesn’t support new technologies, you can install Phoenix OS. Although it’s a little old compared to these, very stable.

Requirements:

Any PC (specs doesn’t matter)
8GB free disk space
USB disk (4GB required)
Rufus for creating bootable USB

AOSP x86 Setup

Download latest x86 .iso here.

Open Rufus, select downloaded .iso and start flashing.

Other disk volume required for installation. Press Win+R and run compmgmt.msc

Find “Disk Management” and shrink & create a partition.

Now reboot your PC and go boot selection menu. Select USB and x86 setup screen will appear.

Choose partition.

Format EXT4 for better performance. If you still want transfer files between Windows and Android x86, you can use NTFS.

Confirm it.

Install GRUB for dual-boot menu selection.

If you want an R/W system, press yes (for root or debloating unnecessary apps).

Wait installation progress.

Select “Run Android x86”

Wait a bit, after bootanimation the home screen will come.

Great! AOSP x86 successfully installed your PC.

Bliss OS Setup

Bliss OS better than AOSP x86 because it still gets updates. It has Android 7 – 12 versions, with 5.x kernel and extra customizations.

Installation steps are the same as above. Pick yourself a Bliss version from here and follow the AOSP x86 installing steps.

Phoenix OS Setup

This OS is older than others, it is recommended for more older PC’s. If your computer didn’t boot Bliss OS or AOSP x86, you can try this.

Download Phoenix OS here. Choose x86 or x64 (x86_64) architecture by your PC.
There are two different installation methods. first one installation regular .iso, as we did above. Second is via the file of installer.exe, via Windows and more practical. Let’s continue with second method but choice is yours of course.
