Huawei continues to hold its prominence in the global premium phone market ranking in the first quarter of 2024. According to the latest Canalys report, the Chinese brand has retained a significant place in the ranking by securing the third spot after US giant Apple and South Korean brand Samsung.
Huawei has been making a resurgence in China following the ban it is facing against the US government. Despite the move, the company has managed to regain its popularity, thanks to its Mate 60 series and its latest Pura 70 lineup.
Now, a new report has revealed the situation of the brand in the premium smartphone industry. According to Canalys, the Chinese giant has ranked third globally during the first quarter of the year. The segment comprises phones that cost $600 and above.
In the report, the firm shared that Huawei owns 6% of the market share, translating to its 67% YoY growth. It follows other market titans, including Apple and Samsung, which ranked in first and second spots after securing 60% (-11% YoY) and 25% (29% YoY) market share, respectively.
The news follows another success from Huawei, which beat Samsung in the foldable market during the same period. According to Counterpoint, the company had a 257% YoY shipment growth in 2024 during the first quarter. This, however, is the opposite of what Samsung has been facing after its foldable shipments experienced a -42% decrease.
