Huawei reportedly working on self-developed Pura 80 Ultra camera system

Huawei continues to build its independence by working on another section of its next flagship model.

Huawei impressed the world by managing to thrive in the smartphone industry despite the challenges it is facing, including the US ban. This is all possible through the company’s choice to be independent, leading to the production of Kirin chips its models are using now. In the upcoming Pura 80 series, Huawei is expected to use its rumored Kirin 9020 chip.

However, it seems the Chinese giant is aiming more than that. 

According to Smart Pikachu on Weibo, Huawei is also planning to create its own self-developed camera system for the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. The post suggested that aside from the software side, the hardware division of the system, including the OmniVision lenses currently being used in the Pura 70 series

The Pura 80 Ultra is allegedly coming with a trio of lenses on its back, featuring a 50MP 1″ main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 1/1.3″ periscope unit. The system also allegedly implements a variable aperture for the main camera. 

Another leaker, Digital Chat Station, has shared in an earlier post that the camera system of the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra is already under test. However, the tipster underscored that the details are not yet final, suggesting possible changes in the coming months.
