Huawei teases upcoming Pura model with 16:10 aspect ratio

Huawei has provided fans a peak of the upcoming Pura smartphone with a 16:10 display aspect ratio.

Huawei will hold a Pura event on Thursday, March 20. The company is expected to introduce its first smartphone, which runs on the native HarmonyOS Next.

According to earlier reports, the phone could be the Huawei Pocket 3. However, we now doubt that it would be called such a monicker since the upcoming event is under the Pura lineup. It is also possible that it is another model, and the Huawei Pocket 3 will be announced on a different date and event.

Anyway, today’s highlight is not the monicker of the smartphone but its display. According to the recent teasers shared by the Chinese giant, the phone will boast a 16:10 aspect ratio. This makes it an unconventional display, making it appear wider and shorter compared to other smartphones in the market. Interestingly, a video clip from the brand somehow suggests that the phone’s display has a rollable capability to achieve the 16:10 ratio.

The phone’s frontal display was revealed in a photo shared by Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Technologies Consumer Business Group. The phone sports a wide display with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. Given its unique display size, we expect that its apps and programs are specifically optimized for its aspect ratio.

Other details of the phones remain unknown, but we expect Huawei to reveal them as the phone’s debut nears.
