Lenovo-Motorola made a huge success in the last quarter of 2024 after it secured the third spot in Japan’s smartphone market.
The brand follows Apple and Google in the market, with the former enjoying the top spot for a long time now. This is the first time Lenovo-Motorola penetrated the said spot, beating Sharp, Samsung, and Sony in the process.
Despite this, it is important to note that Lenovo-Motorola’s success during the said quarter was primarily due to its FCNT acquisition in the second half of 2023 in Japan. FCNT (Fujitsu Connected Technologies) is a company known for its Rakuraku and Arrows-branded smartphones in Japan.
Motorola has also made aggressive moves in the Japanese and other global markets recently with its recent releases. One includes the Motorola Razr 50D, which debuted with a 6.9″ main foldable FHD+ pOLED, a 3.6″ external display, a 50MP main camera, a 4000mAh battery, an IPX8 rating, and wireless charging support. Other Motorola-branded phones that reportedly sold well during the said timeline included the Moto G64 5G and Edge 50s Pro.
