Xiaomi India has announced that they will now add 5G support on 4 new phones. Accessing 5G connectivity is usually effortless for Airtel users in India, whereas Jio users tend to experience delays in having 5G support, especially with Xiaomi phones.
5G support on Mi 10, Mi 10i, Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro
The reason for this difference is that Airtel and Jio use different 5G connection protocols. Jio provides Standalone 5G, whereas Airtel provides non-standalone 5G. Standalone 5G is also known as 5G SA.
According to a Twitter announcement from Xiaomi India, Jio’s 5G network will be supported by four new phones. Previously, 5G support was added to Mi 11X, Mi 11X Pro, and Mi 11 Lite 5G models in India.
Mi 10, Mi 10i, Mi 10T, and Mi 10T Pro will now also be able to utilize Jio’s 5G connection. It’s worth noting that 5G connectivity is not yet available on these devices, and 5G support will be added through a software update at a later time.
