A new Xiaomi laptop is releasing soon, with some interesting specs, and it has finally passed the European Union’s Declaration of Conformity. The laptop will also be a 2-in-1, and will feature an ARM processor, as opposed to the usual Intel or AMD processors we see in Windows laptops. So, let’s take a look at the specs and more.
New Xiaomi laptop passes EU Declaration of Conformity
The Xiaomi Book S 12.4 is Xiaomi’s newest and first attempt at a powerful ARM laptop, and it seems like the device will feature a Qualcomm processor, and unfortunately not a powerful one. The laptop will feature a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor, which is about as powerful as a Snapdragon 855, with an architecture similar to that of a 3GHz Kryo A76, which also features 8 cores, an Adreno 690 GPU, and 8 gigabytes of LPDDR4 RAM, clocked at 2133MHz.
The processor is based on TSMC’s 7nm process node. The GPU is unfortunately close to the performance of an Adreno 540, which is what the Snapdragon 835 was based on. We previously reported on this device, and the Geekbench performance of the Xiaomi Book S wasn’t that promising, when compared to that of a base model M1 Macbook, but similar – and even better compared to a Surface Pro X.
The Xiaomi Book S will also feature a 5G modem, and is also a 2-in-1, which means that the device will either come with a keyboard accessory, or will fold into tablet mode. We don’t know when it will release, but it should release soon. The pricing is also up in the air, but don’t expect it to be too cheap.
