OnePlus thanks 8, 8 Pro users amid last update rollout

OnePlus is now rolling out the last update for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Alongside this, the company expressed its gratitude to the owners of the said devices in a recent statement.

The two models launched in 2020, with the company offering three major Android updates and four years of security updates. However, now that it’s 2024, both the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro have finally reached their last promised update from the brand.

The update, dubbed OxygenOS 13.1.0.587, is now rolling out to users in India. It is expected to be available to more markets in the coming days, as it is being distributed in batches. Those devices that already have it should be able to see it in the Settings app under the About Device page in the System section. It is important to note, however, that aside from security-related improvements, the update doesn’t come with other additions.

OnePlus already confirmed the start of the rollout and showed gratitude to its users in a recent statement:

As you might have been aware, with the release of OxygenOS 13.1.0.587, we’ve officially fulfilled our lifecycle maintenance promise for the OnePlus 8/8Pro.

It was quite a memorable journey and we’d love to extend our sincere gratitude to all of you for the tremendous support along the way.

During the last four years, we’ve come a long way together hand-in-hand. Here, we would like to thank you all who have been actively sharing feedback and opinions, reporting bugs, and helping us better optimize the OxygenOS. With your constant support, we’ve eventually brought a dozen of stable builds into existence to ensure an overall better experience.

None of these will be possible without you. Thank you all for the support as always. And we’ll continue to listen to your voice and build even better products in the future. It follows the rollout of the last major update for the T-Mobile variants of the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 8T. To recall, OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 8 series and newer models would only get three major Android updates and four years of security updates. The OnePlus 8T was launched in October 2020, while the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro arrived in March 2021.
