Oppo/OnePlus reportedly testing 8000mAh battery with 80W charging

A leaker claims that Oppo and OnePlus could be testing an 8000mAh battery with support for 80W charging.

Reputable leaker Digital Chat Station shared the information on Weibo without directly naming the two brands. According to the tipster, the battery contains 15% silicon material.

This is not entirely surprising, as more brands are now aggressively investing in bigger batteries for their latest devices. To recall, OnePlus made the headlines after it injected a huge 6100mAh battery into its OnePlus Ace 3 Pro in June last year. After that, more brands started abandoning the 5000mAh trend and introduced bigger batteries with capacities now around 6000mAh. The Realme Neo 7 even surpassed that with its 7000mAh battery, and more devices are expected to launch with the same capacity in the future.

OnePlus and Oppo, nonetheless, are not the only brands aspiring to use bigger batteries in their creations. According to earlier reports, Xiaomi is also testing a battery with nearly the same capacity. In August last year, DCS also claimed that Xiaomi was exploring a 7500mAh battery solution with 100W charging power.
