Yesterday, we provided you the initial teaser image of POCO F5 and now the launch date has been revealed on POCO Global’s Twitter account. POCO F5 series is scheduled to be unveiled on May 9th.
POCO F5 series launch
The first teaser image referred to “POCO F5 series.” While we were aware of two distinct models (POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro) from previous leaks, the latest post officially confirms the release of two new smartphones.
As a POCO classic, just like previous POCO phones, POCO F5 and F5 Pro will come with a good processor and display, but with a mid-level camera setup. POCO F5 series will be launched globally on May 9 at 20:00 GMT+8 and the POCO F5 will be launched in India on May 9 at 5:30 PM.
POCO F5 and F5 Pro will be released globally, while only POCO F5 will be available in India. Not having the Pro version in India is not a major issue, since differences between the devices are not huge. Both models are equipped with Snapdragon’s flagship chipset.
POCO F5 features Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset, whereas POCO F5 Pro boasts Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Despite different branding,we revealed their almost identical performance with Geekbench scores of each device on our previous article, indicating a comparable level of performance between both models. If you assume that performance of the phones will be similar, the biggest difference between them is the display and battery capacity, even the fast charging capabilities are the same with both phones having 67W fast charging. POCO F5 is actually the global version of Redmi Note 12 Turbo, which is only available in China. The most striking feature of Redmi Note 12 Turbo is that it is one of the cheapest phone with 1 TB storage and 16 GB RAM. 1TB variant was priced at CNY 2799, approximately USD 406 in China.
It is not yet clear whether there will be a 1TB variant globally, but we are sure that POCO F5 series will come with a good pricing with a flagship performance features.
