More details about the Realme GT 7 Pro have surfaced online, with a leaker claiming that the model will have a periscope lens in its camera system and an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor for additional protection.
Days ago, Chase Xu, Realme Vice President and Global Marketing President, revealed that the company would unveil the Realme GT 7 Pro in India this year. The executive didn’t reveal the specific timeline, but it could happen in December, the same month when the Realme GT 5 Pro was unveiled last year.
Xu also didn’t share specifics about the model’s features, but a recent claim from leaker Smart Pikachu says that the phone will be armed with a periscope camera. With this, fans could expect that the device will have some extra optical zoom capabilities without a bulky camera system. To recall, its predecessor also has one, a 50MP periscope telephoto (f/2.6, 1/1.56″) with an OIS and 2.7x optical zoom.
According to the tipster, the GT 7 Pro will also offer an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner. This is unsurprising, as earlier reports revealed that smartphone brands under BBK Electronics are getting the technology. Earlier, leaker Digital Chat Station revealed on Weibo that the tech would be employed on the flagship models of OnePlus, Oppo, and Realme. If pushed, the new ultrasonic fingerprint sensors should replace the optical fingerprint system of the brands’ flagship offerings in the future.
To the uninitiated, the ultrasonic biometric fingerprint sensor system is a type of in-display fingerprint authentication. It is more secure and accurate as it employs ultrasonic sound waves under the display. Additionally, it should work even when fingers are wet or dirty. Because of these advantages and the cost of their production, ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are usually found only in premium models.
