Redmi K80 Pro to get 3x telephoto, ultrasonic fingerprint, 120W charging

More details about the Redmi K80 Pro have surfaced online, giving us the missing pieces of puzzles about the anticipated model’s specifications.

The Redmi K80 is expected to arrive in November. According to recent reports, the Redmi K80 series will be composed of the vanilla Redmi K80 model and the Redmi K80 Pro, which will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, respectively.

Aside from those things, the Pro model is rumored to get a huge 5500mAh battery. This should be a huge improvement compared to its predecessor, the Redmi K70 series, which only offers a 5000mAh battery. In the display section, leaks claimed that there would be a flat 2K 120Hz OLED screen. This reiterates earlier reports about the series, with rumors claiming that the entire lineup could get 2K resolution displays.

Now, another wave of leaks has appeared online, giving us more details about the Redmi K80 Pro. According to claims, while the phone will indeed have a larger battery, it will retain the 120W charging capability of its predecessor, the K70 Pro.

In the camera department, the device’s telephoto unit is expected to improve. According to the latest reports, compared to the K70 Pro’s 2x telephoto, the K80 Pro will get a  3x telephoto unit. Details about the rest of its camera system, however, remain unknown.

Ultimately, it seems the Redmi K80 Pro will join the move of brands in adopting ultrasonic fingerprint sensor technology. As per leaks, the Pro model will be armed with the feature. If true, the new ultrasonic fingerprint sensors should replace the optical fingerprint system that is usually used on Redmi devices. This should make the K80 Pro to be more secure and accurate as the tech employs ultrasonic sound waves under the display. Additionally, it should work even when fingers are wet or dirty. With these advantages and the cost of their production, ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are usually found only in premium models.
