]Redmi Note 12 series has finally been unveiled! Redmi Note 12 series, which had its debut in China, will be offered globally as well. While last year’s Redmi Note series was focused mainly on fast charging, the Redmi Note 12 series has improvements on the camera too.
Performance
All three phones in the Redmi Note 12 series use the same processor. The phones are powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. It is a chipset manufactured by TSMC and has 6 nm process. With the Imagiq ISP, Dimensity 1080 can handle image data from sensors up to 200MP. So it has an enough performance for the 200 MP camera sensor on Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition.
The chipset supports 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 6. Storage and RAM capabilities may vary by each device. Storage options, RAM and price information are given at the end of article.
Design
All the phones come in black, blue and white colors. Just like other Xiaomi phones, Redmi Note 12 series offers special designs as well. Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has a special edition called YIBO Racing Edition.
Note 12 Explorer Edition has a 2.5D curved OLED screen while the Note 12 Pro and Note 12 Pro+ have a flat OLED display. The angular design concept from the Redmi Note 11 series is carried over to the Redmi Note 12.
Battery
In terms of charging, the Redmi Note 12 series is pretty ambitious. The Note 12 Explorer Edition charges a phone more quickly than any other device Xiaomi has ever made.
Note 12 Explorer Edition can be fully charged in 9 minutes, according to Xiaomi’s explanation on the advertisement. Of course, the environment will have an impact on the charging speed but 210W is ridiculously fast if you consider laptop adapters give less power.

Camera
Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is the first phone that has OIS in Redmi Note 12 series. Redmi Note 12 Pro+ equips 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HPX camera sensor. New Samsung ISOCELL HPX sensor’s size is 1/1,4″ which is 26% larger than Sony IMX 766 (used in Xiaomi 12). Note 11 Pro+ from last year doesn’t have OIS on main camera.
Even though it has a 200 MP sensor, the Xiaomi lets you take pictures in three different resolutions. 12.5 MP standard mode, 50 MP balanced mode, or 200 MP full quality are the options. When you don’t require extreme detail, choosing a lower resolution choice can save space without significantly lowering quality.
Shooting in lower resolution will also help to improve shutter speed and processing time. All the smartphones with high resolution camera sensor have a delay after taking a photo.
200 MP Samsung HPX sensor is also capable of shooting videos at 4K 120 FPS and 8K 30 FPS and it features 16 to 1 binning and QPD autofocus and it has f/1.65 aperture. On the other hand Redmi Note 12 Pro features Sony IMX 766 camera sensor. It’s a camera sensor has been commonly used on midrange smartphones. Although we call it mediocre, it usually gives good results in good lighting conditions. Redmi Note 12 Pro has OIS on the main camera as well.
Redmi Note 12 Pro
This year Xiaomi has included some presets in the camera app of Redmi Note 12 series. Note 12 Pro features Sony IMX 766 sensor. The presets inside the camera app gives stylish look to the photos.

Redmi Note 12 Pro+

Xiaomi launched the phones in China, but they will also be sold in other nations. Prices are based on sales in China but it should have similar pricing tag on the international market.
