Google Pixel 6a users will receive a mandatory update that will reduce their units’ battery capacity and charging performance due to an overheating issue.
The Pixel model was introduced in 2022. However, years after hitting the market, several users encountered overheating issues in some of the units, with some reportedly catching fire.
Following reports from affected users, Google is planning to roll out a necessary update that will be pushed to all affected devices. The search giant is expected to contact affected users to inform them about the issue and the solution.
The update is reportedly aimed at decreasing the battery capacity and charging performance of the model after 400 charging cycles.
It is worth mentioning that the problem followed an earlier battery-related issue in the Google Pixel 4a model. The company also introduced an update that reduced the battery capacity in the device, making it unusable for other users. In March, Google recalled problematic units in Australia.
