Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 14 Series at the MWC, giving fans a glimpse of the company’s two latest camera-focused flagships. According to the company, consumers around the globe could avail of the new models, except those in the US.
The Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra just had their domestic debut a few days ago in China and is now going to Europe. At MWC, the company shared more details about the two smartphones, which should now be available for orders.
Xiaomi 14 sports a smaller 6.36-inch screen compared to its sibling, but it now boasts a better LTPO 120Hz panel, which should allow a smoother experience for users. Of course, if you want to go beyond that, the 14 Ultra is the choice, giving you a bigger 6.73-inch screen, 120Hz 1440p panel, and a 1-inch-type main camera. Its camera employs the new Sony LYT-900 sensor, which makes it comparable to the Oppo Find X7 Ultra.
In the event, Xiaomi highlighted the power of Ultra’s camera system by underscoring its variable aperture system, which is also present in Xiaomi 14 Pro. With this capability, 14 Ultra can perform 1,024 stops between f/1.63 and f/4.0, with the aperture appearing to open up and close down to do the trick during a demo shown by the brand earlier.
Aside from that, Ultra comes with 3.2x and 5x telephoto lenses, which are both stabilized. Meanwhile, Xiaomi also equipped the Ultra model with a log recording capability, a feature that recently debuted in the iPhone 15 Pro. The feature can be a useful tool for users who want serious video capabilities on their phones, allowing them to have flexibility in editing colors and contrast in post-production.
As for the Xiaomi 14, fans can expect an upgrade compared to the brand’s telephoto camera in the previous year. From the former 10-megapixel chip that Xiaomi gave us last year, this year’s 14 model has 50-megapixel wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto cameras.
Of course, there are other points to appreciate about the new models, including the flat-edge design. Yet, if you are someone who wants to invest in the best smartphone cameras, the camera specifications of the models, especially 14 Ultra’s, are enough to entice you.
