It’s official: Xiaomi 14 Ultra launches in India alongside base model

After earlier teasing that it would make the “14 Series” launch in India, Xiaomi has finally revealed that it would indeed offer the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in the Indian market as well.

Prior to the unveiling of the 14 Series in India, it was speculated that only the Xiaomi 14 model would be arriving on the market. However, the company shared that its event will instead focus on the series in general, leading many to believe that Ultra will also be offered in India. Xiaomi then confirmed the move in its unveiling event this Thursday event, signaling the arrival of its first “Ultra” phone in the Indian market.

According to the Chinese brand, the two models will be offered in India, with both devices coming in only a single variant. As the brand shared, Xiaomi 14 (12GB RAM + 512GB) will be offered at ₹69,999, while the Ultra model (16GB RAM + 512GB) will cost ₹99,999. The latter is expected to start hitting stores on April 12, while the base model will be available beginning March 11.

As shared by Xiaomi in the event, the vanilla model will offer a 6.36-inch 1.5K 12-bit LTPO OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness. It is armed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and 12GB RAM, with a 4,610mAh battery (with support for 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging) powering the device. As for its camera, it boasts a 32MP selfie camera and a rear camera setup composed of a 50MP primary camera with OIS and Leica Summilux lens, a 50MP 15° Leica ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50MP Leica telephoto lens with OIS.

Meanwhile, the Ultra model features a 6.73-inch 2K 12-bit LTPO OLED display, which offers a 1 to 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. It also comes powerful through its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, complemented by a higher 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. In terms of power, the unit has a huge 5,300mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging capabilities.

As for Ultra’s camera system, it is no surprise that it is being advertised as a camera-focused model. It comes with an incredibly impressive rear camera setup comprised of a 50MP primary camera with a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor Hyper OIS and Leica Summilux lens, a 50MP 122-degree Leica ultra-wide angle lens with Sony IMX858 sensor, a 50MP 3.2X Leica telephoto lens with Sony IMX858 sensor, and a 50MP Leica periscope telephoto lens with Sony IMX858 sensor.

Even more, the Ultra model sports the company’s variable aperture system. This allows the device to perform 1,024 stops between f/1.63 and f/4.0, with the aperture appearing to open up and close down to do the trick. Additionally, the device has a log recording capability, a feature that recently debuted in the iPhone 15 Pro. The feature can be a useful tool for users who want serious video capabilities on their phones, allowing them to have flexibility in editing colors and contrast in post-production.
