Xiaomi 16 Pro Max reportedly coming with periscope, rear display

A leaker suggested that Xiaomi is working on a new model that will revive the use of a secondary rear display in its non-foldable devices. According to speculations, it could be the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max.

To recall, the Chinese giant introduced the concept in the Mi 11 Ultra model in 2021, giving users minor detail peeks like notifications, time, battery level, music control, and more. The idea faded, and the company later continued producing regular design models, focusing on their rear camera setups.

However, it seems the rear display will be coming back soon, as suggested by reputable tipster Digital Chat Station. Although the account did not specify the model, speculations point to the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max.

According to DCS, the model could have a periscope unit. The rear camera setup is allegedly arranged vertically, while the secondary display will be placed horizontally.

Moreover, the handheld reportedly comes with a Qualcomm SM8850 chip, which is expected to be named the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. This reflects the expectations of Xiaomi using the chip in the Xiaomi 16 series after the brand extended its partnership with Qualcomm.

Details about the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max remain scarce, but earlier rumors have already revealed a lot about the other models in the series. According to reports, the vanilla model is getting a triple 50MP rear camera setup with a periscope, a 6500mAh+ battery, 100W charging support, and a 6.3″ display. The Pro and Ultra variants, on the other hand, are reportedly sporting 6.8″ screens.
