Xiaomi 16 Ultra reportedly debuting with vanilla, Pro models this year

A new leak from China says that Xiaomi is making a huge change in its launch timeline strategy for its Xiaomi 16 series, with the Xiaomi 16 Ultra model coming earlier than expected.

Xiaomi will present its numbered flagship series this year. In the current Xiaomi 15 series, the brand introduced the vanilla and Pro models first and then launched the Ultra variant later. However, tipster Digital Chat Station claimed this week that this would change in this year’s lineup.

According to the leaker, all the vanilla, Pro, and Ultra models would be launched simultaneously this year. No specific date was mentioned, but it could happen before 2025 ends. This corroborates an earlier report saying the phone would be announced in December.

Earlier reports revealed that the Ultra model will have a better camera than its predecessor as the Chinese brand deepens its collaboration with Leica. Moreover, the phone’s 200MP main camera will allegedly work with a special periscope lens. It is said to be capable of attaining zooms greater than what the current models offer, such as 3x and 5x. As per DCS, it has a CMOS unit that will be shared by dual optical zoom components, making the zoom process smoother.

According to earlier reports, the Xiaomi 16 Ultra will have a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip, a 6.8″ 2K+ LTPO OLED with 1.2mm bezels, a 16GB/512GB configuration option, a camera system with a SmartSens sensor, a huge battery rated around 7000mAh, HyperOS 3.0, and three colorways (black, white, and silver).
