Xiaomi, Huawei thrived in Q1 2025 high-end Chinese, global smartphone markets

Huawei and Xiaomi made it to the top 5 ranking of Chinese and global high-end smartphone markets in the first quarter of the year.

The two brands compete against bigger international names, including Apple and Samsung, with the former securing the top spot both in the global and Chinese smartphone markets. Yet, according to the latest data, both Chinese brands received some of the biggest YoY growth compared to their rivals in the $600+ smartphone category.

Huawei ranked second in its domestic market with a 38% market share, which translated to a 69% YoY increase. Xiaomi followed with a 7% market share and a huge 102% YoY growth.

In the global scene, Huawei placed third after Apple and Samsung. It had a 9% share and the same 69% YoY growth, while Xiaomi ranked fifth with a 3% share and an 81% YoY increase.

The news follows several successful releases of the two Chinese brands. To recall, it was earlier reported that the Huawei Mate XT trifold was a huge triumph for the company after it reached over 400,000 unit sales despite its steep pricing. Meanwhile, Xiaomi introduced its Xiaomi 15 Ultra flagship model in the first quarter of the year and was warmly welcomed by fans. The Xiaomi 15 series also reportedly performed really well, reaching 2 million unit sales in January.
