Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 vs Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro look similar but there are a ton of differences that you should know between both devices before making that purchase decision. So, in this article, we will compare the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 vs Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G.

If you live in China, you can buy the Xiaomi Mi Pad Pro 5G version, but if you live outside of China, you can get the global version: Mi Pad 5. Still, there are some ways to buy the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G from outside of China, and we will share where you can buy this model in our article.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 vs Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G

The Xiaomi Mi Pap 5 Pro has of course 5G support, and this is why it is called Pad 5 Pro 5G. It offers quite a lot more than you would think, but is it the one you should go for one. These models are exactly the same, it is an 11-inch IPS fully laminated and the resolution 2560 by 1600, both of them have a good performance. The UI is exactly the same, we cannot tell too much of a difference although there is a Snapdragon 870 on the Pro model, in the Mi Pad 5, it is an 860.

On the front, there is an 8MP camera in both versions. They have the middle frame around the outside and the big key difference here is the rear camera. On the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G model, here 50MP camera. That is not the big difference, because the focus on this camera is so much better than the global Mi Pad 5 version.

The Black version picks up a lot of fingerprints compared to the white one, so if possible you should get the white version. The Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G model has the sim tray on the left side of the tablet. It just takes a single nano-SIM, and there is a rubber gasket around it for a little bit of dust and splash protection.

Performance

Both tablets can run MIUI 13, and the speed of the ROMs is just a general kind of multitasking until you do really have multitasking they both feel exactly the same between these. Game running in the background, the Pro version with the 2GB of more RAM and the more powerful process it does, then start to feel a little bit faster, so when you get them you are going to have a little bit of actually quite a lot of Chinese bloatware on the Pro version that you need to uninstall and clean up, so you need a bit of time for that.

There are a few bloaty apps on the Mi Pad 5, but they have toned down on it is actually getting quite a bit better, this is one of the big differences between both of these models.

Battery and Charging

In charge times, there is clearly a big difference, looking at 67W charges in 55 minutes versus 22.5W, the included charger. Mi Pad 5 took 75 minutes to charge with these Pro models out of China, you do not get the charger. The charger is not included in the box, if you do not have one in your home, you have to buy the charger separately.

Then, the battery life was not quite as expected. Mi Pad 5 has 8720mAh and the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G has 8600mAh. Using the same exact brightness and same exact looped test doing the same thing, we managed to get 14 hours and 17 minutes in Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G versus 12 hours and 18 minutes in Mi Pad 5. So, it shows that the Snapdragon 870 does seem to be a more efficient chipset.

Which One Should you Buy?

The global version supports Full HD Dolby Vision, and HDR, but later on in the year, the Mi Pad 5 Pro gets a lot of extra things, and it is more than just the chipset. You get a faster chipset, 2GB more RAM, and double the storage. So, if you think about buying the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro, click here.
