Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner – Detailed Review

We finally got a chance to look at one of the most popular robot vacuums from Xiaomi, it is Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner. Let me direct your attention to the robot vacuum cleaner’s issue. It is a Chinese version, and it is not international. The international model of the Xiaomi robot is sold under the name Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P.

On the outside, they look identical, and the characteristics and cleaning quality is also the same, but there is a price difference: the Chinese LDS costs around $300, while the international version costs $340. We will tell you why there is a price gap later in the article, as well as give our personal opinion on whether or not you should buy this vacuum and go over it in detail.

Differences between Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner and Vacuum-Mop P

First, let’s try to find some differences between the Chinese and global versions, in order to understand which one is better, and how much money you should put aside if you are actually invested in this vacuum.

The main difference between the two versions is that Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner works on Chinese servers, all of the robot’s documents are in Chinese, and it also speaks Chinese. One of the most important differences is that the app works on Chinese servers. Here you can run into problems, like that the app may go offline or buffer, and the processing speed may be slower, which is not very good.

You can find online how you can connect the robot to other regions, though not everyone is a tech wiz and can figure it out, the main thing is that it is possible, and as for Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P, it already comes with instructions translated into several languages, and it speaks English and connects to the other region, and the global version, Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner has a guarantee on it from Xiaomi, while the Chinese version robot vacuum cleaner only has guarantees from the store you bought it from.

Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner – Consumer Review

So, we think that you would have a reason to overpay for the better version by $20-$30, but if there is a bigger difference, we recommend saving your money and just buying the Chinese version, the cleaning quality does not change anyways, and here is another important point, some virtual stores new the vacuum as a combination of the Chinese and global version of this model is the Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum Cleaner Mop P LDS.

Before ordering the Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum Cleaner Mop P LDS from any site, make sure which robot vacuum cleaner you are buying. Now, let’s move on to actually reviewing the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner. Let’s start with the package.

Package

The vacuum came in this box, in it, aside from the actual vacuum, is a charging base, charging cord, and a conjoined water and dirt container, and there is already a dirt container in the vacuum. There is also an attachment for mopping, which already has a microfiber cloth attached, an extra cloth, and the robot’s manual.

Design

We got the black one, and there is also a white one, which we think is more practical. The Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner is round and has a LIDAR on top for the navigation system. The frame’s height is standard, 94.5mm. On the bag, there is a plug for charging. The LIDAR’s lid does not have springs, and there are two buttons on top of the vacuum: start/pause and return to base for charging.

On the front bumper, there is an object sensor for obstacles. The dirt container is under the top lid. Next, there is a tool for maintaining the vacuum. The container fits 550ml of dry dirt. The filtration system is MESH and HEPA-filter. Instead of the dirt container, you can put a conjoined container for dirt and water that is identical to the size of the container. It is made to store 150ml of water and 350ml of dirt. Inside, there is an electric pump for water regulation. The filtration of the robot vacuum cleaner is only HEPA-filter, and there is no net.

Now, let’s look at the robot from below. There are 4 anti-fall sensors. There is only one side brush: an easy to take off the three-sided brush. The vacuum cleaner also has standard petal-sided bristles and a central brush. You can take off the cap from the brush to clean the house. The actual brush cannot be taken off. The mopping cloth is big by area. It can be attached thanks to a pocket and VELCRO. Water gets on the cloth from 6 sides and it makes it very convenient. Usually, there are only two or three openings for water.

All in all the assembly is pretty easy. The main technical features given to us by, the manufacturer are up on the screen. As you can see, the battery is smaller than the previous Xiaomi vacuums. Because of this, the battery life and cleaning areas are smaller. Other than that the characteristics are pretty standard. Now, let’s move on to the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner’s functions.

Mi Home App

The vacuum can be controlled through the Mi Home App. Before connecting to the app, make sure to choose the Chinese region. The user interface of the Mi Home App is translated into English almost completely. On the main screen, here is the map that your robot had built, which is automatically zoned into rooms and saved.

Swipe up and you can find the menu on the Mi Home App. From there, you can choose the cleaning mode: mop and vacuum, only vacuum, and only mop. You can also choose the cloth wetness and suction power. On the map’s right, there are two cleaning modes: rectangular zone clean, and local cleaning for a specific point on the map. Now, let’s get to the settings.

Here you can see the cleaning history on the Mi Home app, set a cleaning schedule for a specific time, cloth wetness, cleaning mode, day of the week, suction power, and if you want, you can choose the needed rooms for cleaning.

Next, you can choose to clean the perimeter after a full cycle cleaning and choose to do a full cycle cleaning again. You can also choose the movement of the robot while mopping: a snake-like pattern, or a Y-shape. From additional settings on the app, you can see the do not disturb mode and can turn the robot’s voice on and off, and choose their volume.

Convenience

Like we said before, the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner speaks in Chinese. In terms of the map, you can choose to turn off saving it, set up no-go zones, choose the needed map from the saved maps, set up virtual walls and edit your map. For example, name the room’s and edit the borders.

Lastly, the final functions are calibrating the sensors, turning on finding my robot, checking the water level, manually controlling it, changing the robot’s name, sharing your controls, and updating the software.

All of the main functions are laid down. The only thing that would make this perfect would be no-go zones just for mopping, and automatic power increases on carpets, for which the robot could have gotten extra points.

Performance – User Thoughts

In a room with obstacles, the vacuum cleaner goes along the room, then goes through the area in a snake-like pattern. It did not get stuck on the drying rack, individually vacuumed around the box and all of the chair legs, and returned to the base without a problem.

The robot vacuum cleaner started to clean each room with the perimeter, and then went through in a snake-like pattern. The navigation is great, and the suction power is perfectly standard, though the manufacturer says that it reaches 2100Pa. The Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner, like most other Xiaomi robot vacuums, the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner could clean dirt out from only a 2mm split. Though this is fine for casual cleaning.

Vacuuming

The hard floor vacuuming quality is very good. The robot completely cleaned everything given to it and only left dirt in the corners that most robots cannot reach due to their round shape. Only a little bit of hair got stuck on the central brush, and some hair got stuck on the side brush of the robot. Most of the dirt piles up in the dirt container.

The carpet vacuuming is average. After a cycle, the robot can leave some dirt, and to get it all, the robot needs to clean that spot a few times. So carpets, are not really its area of expertise, and the wet cleaning is very good.

The Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner can scrub off some light dirt on the floor, without leaving major marks. The cloth does a good job soaking the dirt up and staying on the floor. The vacuum definitely passed this test.

Mopping

Generally speaking of the mopping, it is better than other Dreame or Roborock vacuums. The cloth does a good job picking up the dirt, keeps an even wet mark and note that Mijia LDS can simultaneously vacuum and mop, and move in a Y-shape while mopping.

The Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner is great with obstacles. It easily goes over .78 inch (2cm) baseboards, and this vacuum is actually scared of dark surfaces and recognizes them as cliffs. This is important to note.

Noise Level

Even in the lowest mode, the robot vacuum cleaner’s noise level goes up to 64.5dB. In standard mode, it reaches 68dB, in the medium mode it is 71dB, and in Turbo it goes all the way up to 73dB. We have to say that this is one loud robot, even though the suction power is standard.

Should you buy the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner?

The robot did great vacuuming and mopping on hard surfaces. It can simultaneously vacuum and mop. It has a good navigation system. The vacuum cleaner has the main functions, including the additional map functions. You can add a custom voice pack, and it is great with obstacles. You should also keep in mind that the robot is scared of dark surfaces, very loud working, not good at cleaning carpets, and there are problems with controlling through the Chinese Mi Home App. So, there is a point to buying it for $250, and if you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner, you should definitely give this a chance.
