A new report from Counterpoint shows that Xiaomi secured third place in the 2024 global smartphone market ranking.
The Chinese brand follows other huge international companies like Samsung and Apple, which secured the first two spots. According to the data, the South Korean brand had a 19% market share in 2024, while Apple had an 18% share.
Despite being outranked by the Galaxy and iPhone creators, the report highlights the huge year-on-year growth of Xiaomin compared to its rivals. While Samsung and Apple only managed to obtain 1% and 2% YoY increase in 2024, Xiaomi had a whopping 12% YoY growth. This is the highest growth rate among the brands in the ranking. Xiaomi also outperformed Oppo and Vivo, which had only an 8% market share and 8% and 9% YoY growth, respectively.
Some of the brand’s most remarkable releases last year were the Xiaomi 15 series, which includes the vanilla model and a Pro variant. Last December, the lineup reportedly outranked the latest models with 1.3M activated units. According to Counterpoint, the company’s success in the global market was “helped by its portfolio realignment, premium push, and aggressive expansion activities.”
