Xiaomi to focus on budget segment in India after axing 15 Civi

Xiaomi reportedly canceled the launch of the Xiaomi 15 Civi in India due to challenges in the premium mid-range segment.

The Xiaomi model was significantly anticipated prior to the news. In fact, several leaks have already revealed some of its key specs, including its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, 50MP main camera, 50MP telephoto, and 6000mAh battery.

However, according to a recent report, the Chinese brand has abandoned plans to debut the model in India. No specific reasons were shared, but the poor sales of the Xiaomi 14 Civi in India could explain this. To recall, the phone debuted in June last year in the market, and was even presented in a Limited Edition Panda Design a month later.

While the brand is mum about the move, the report suggests that Xiaomi might now focus on more budget-friendly offerings in India. To recall, Xiaomi recently refreshed its Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G series by releasing it in Champagne Gold variant, while its Redmi A4 5G recently unveiled its 6GB/128GB option. The Redmi 15 5G teasers have also now started in India, arriving as its latest budget offering with a huge 7000mAh battery.
