All the Redmi branded smartphones except the A and C series gets the software support of 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates. This also includes the Redmi Note series of smartphones. The security patches are also delivered via the same quarterly patches.
Xiaomi smartphones
Now comes the Xiaomi-branded smartphones. Xiaomi branded smartphones are generally available at higher prices as compared to Redmi devices. The company promises 3 years of major Android upgrades and 4 years of security updates to the Xiaomi smartphones. Again, the security patches are delivered via quarterly patches. However, this is the latest update policy announced in Chinese and Global markets. It may vary according to different regions and devices. Xiaomi smartphones launched before Q3 2021 might get 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security patches only.
