Xiaomi EOS List: Mi 10T series, POCO X3 / NFC and Many Devices Will No Longer Get Updates [Updated: 27 October 2023]

Xiaomi has released an updated Xiaomi EOS list, and some budget Xiaomi devices have been added to the list. They will no longer receive updates. Xiaomi releases updates to all devices almost every day, and over time, the update support of these devices is terminated.

While it’s unfortunate that these devices will no longer receive updates, it’s important to remember that Xiaomi provides updates to all devices for a relatively long period of time. As a result, Xiaomi devices are among the most updated devices on the market. If you’re looking for an updated device, Xiaomi is still a great option.

What does the Xiaomi EOS List mean?

If you have a Xiaomi device that’s on the Xiaomi EOS List, you’ll no longer receive new Xiaomi updates. This includes security updates, so it’s important to be aware of the risks involved in using an outdated device. While Xiaomi devices are generally very secure, older devices may be more vulnerable to exploits. So if you have a Xiaomi device that’s on the Xiaomi EOS List, we recommend upgrading to a newer model.

[Update: 26 June 2023] Update status of devices on the Xiaomi EOS List

As of June 26, 2023, the Redmi 10X/10X 4G, Redmi 10X Pro, POCO F2 Pro, Redmi Note 9, Redmi 9, Redmi 9A, and Redmi K30i 5G have been added to the Xiaomi EOS List. There are a few surprising aspects here. First, smartphones like Redmi Note 9 (Redmi 10X 4G) and Redmi 9 were expected to receive the MIUI 14 update. However, update support was discontinued before these smartphones could receive the MIUI 14 update.

Did an issue arise during the testing of MIUI 14 for the Note 9 series and other devices? Or did Xiaomi decide not to deal with these devices anymore? We had tested leaked MIUI 14 builds for the Redmi Note 9 series, and they were quite smooth, fast, and stable. Furthermore, when we checked internal MIUI tests, the MIUI 14 update was still being tested on a daily basis for the Redmi 9 series.

What Xiaomi has done is completely wrong and unfair. Smartphones like the Redmi Note 9 should have received the MIUI 14 update. Unfortunately, today’s decision indicates that these devices will not officially receive MIUI 14. However, different developers can provide you with MIUI 14 builds.

Additionally, new MIUI 13 updates were prepared for models like Redmi 10X a few weeks ago. Redmi 10X 4G is the Chinese version of Redmi Note 9. The internal MIUI builds for these updates are MIUI-V13.0.2.0.SJOCNXM and MIUI-V13.0.7.0.SJCCNXM. The release of these newly prepared updates to the devices was expected. It is unclear what Xiaomi exactly intends to do.

As for the decision regarding the Redmi 9A, it was right. Due to its insufficient processor, it faced numerous issues. We had previously mentioned that the Redmi 9C / NFC, which has similar specifications to the Redmi 9A, should also be added to the Xiaomi EOS List. If you wish, you can read the article we wrote about the Redmi 9C / NFC.

Those who want a security-proof smartphone should buy the new Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO models. These devices will delight users for a certain period of time. Thanks to unofficial software developments, you will be able to continue using your smartphones for a long time.
